The RIBBF National Bodybuilding Championship is on this Saturday (26th) at the Helix in Dublin. Pre judging is at 12 with the main show starting at 6.
Personally I can't wait for this, should be a awesome show with the NABBA comp being such a success 2 weeks ago.
Anyways I will be up there, most likely backstage helping out with some last minute stuff with the Galway lads, hopefully a few of ye will make the comp!

    What a show, absolutely unbelievable.
David Geller won the overall with Cathal Tiernan a close second, both were hugely impressive. Geller should be a genuine contender for Europe
There was a few guys from the NABBA competition that competed and it was obvious they were in prep for the RIBBF, there condition was 100% better.

First Timers: A new freak of bodybuilding has arrived! Prince (nearly sure thats his second name) was in awesome shape. He had the best arms (especially forearms) in the whole competition and walked his category. Aaron Fleming was good in the NABBA but I reckon this guy would of even bet him, and Fleming is in ridiculous shape!

Novice: Aaron Cannon took a step up from the first timers of NABBA two weeks ago and blew everyone away, his condition was hugely improved. Unluckily my mate did not get into the top 3 (a very tough category) but in a lot of people's opinions should have, his back bet everyone on stage but unfortunately his legs just held that last bit of water

Masters: Ridiculously impressive, best category by a mile. Gary murray won it, best condition by a mile. The guy that came 2nd was huge (name escapes me) & JJ Dunne came 3rd, a great character, really got the crowd going.

80kg category: Geller walked it, nobody near him
90kg category: Magne came first which I thought was a really bad call, Pat McNamara was in great condition and came an unlucky 2nd instead.
100kg category: Cathal Tiernan was in the best shape of his life, has the Universe in 4 weeks time and should do very well. Special mention to Hugh O'Donovan who came 2nd, was in great condition.

Darren Bell was the guest poser and there is no one in the world that would touch his calves, bowling balls is an understatement!

Anyways I am off to try and get the rest of the tan off my hands, hope a few of ye got up to enjoy this great event, huge props to the RIBBF

    Dave

Bold claim to make... especially considering anyone I spoke to who was at both said the standard at the NABBA's was far superior... And they are/were bodybuilders making that comment too!!

would agree that the standard in the first timers was not great, just this guy was in great shape. The guys that came 2nd & 3rd were below par to the NABBA. I am just comparing this guy to even the likes of the guy that won the novice who came in the top 3 first timers of the NABBA 2 weeks ago. Hopefully a few pictures will come about soon.

Did they think the standard in NABBA was better overall or just in the first timers? Because overall it was no contest, novice was better, masters was better and the weight categories (comparing to the height categories of NABBA) were better as well. First timers were poor besides the winner

Completley agree about the first timer Prince, he was a MONSTER, huge.
Aaron Cannon is a mate of mine and im delighted for him he deserved it. He puts so much effort and time into the sport.
I will be posting a vid on youtube of him at the ribbf later on today be sure to check it out.

A poor quality video of the first timers but lets see if ye can spot the winner :D
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wP6blII2OE

and pics of all the winners http://irishbodybuilders.myfreeforum.org/RESULTS_OF_THE_2009_R_I_B_B_F_MR_IRELAND_COMPETITION_about378.html

If Ralf Brzoka was competing he would of definitely being beaten, Geller and Tiernan really kicked it up a gear in this comp. Irish Bodybuilding is finally going somewhere!

Having finally seen a photo of that Prinz I have to say I'm not overly impressed. He has HYYYYYYYOOOOGE arms and pretty good shoulders, but from that pic at least nothing else much stands out. His mid section looks very weak and his legs are no where near upper body standard in my book.

Maybe I'm being overly critical, he is a first timer after all, and maybe the photo doesn't do him justice, but I don't think he's anywhere near Aaron Flemming when it comes to being a total package.

And how did Cathal not win the overall?? He looked SICK.

I agree, the NABBA was a much better standard. Cathal needs to up his legs and develop his abs and he would win. Geller had the condtition and thats what counts(or what shoudl count)

The first timer was huge but the rest were nowhere near the nabba and the same with the weight Classes.

Hi arms were so big it did make his legs look smaller but they were bigger than nearly everyone elses...even looking at the vid everyone looks like a matchstick beside him. I reckon he would beat him in NABBA and lose to him in the RIBBF. Purely coz NABBA go for size and RIBBF go for symettry

With Cathal and Geller it was so close. Cathals legs had hugely improved and he was so strong from the front. Hopefully a picture of Geller from the back will come about because that is where he won it, the condition of it and his hammys and glutes was untouchable.
Was a great comp tho but again RIBBF prefer symmetry and condition rather than size

How could you say the weight classes were better?!
Both Cathal and Dave were in a 100% better condition for this than the NABBA. Hugh O'Donovan was a freak in it and Pat McNamara and Magne were in great nic too.
The novice was also a million times better and the same with the masters.
IMO, beside the first timers, RIBBF was much better

Hi guys Im new hear!!In my opinion Dawid Geler deserved for overall last saturday, his condition was absolutely the best!!!!He improved from last year his weakness parts, like a legs(including hams),chest and arms.Front position was impressive but from the back was double better as front!!More muscles in his back and hams, only one guy with pro glutes!!
