Also is there only one XC event in the year that someone of my age can go in ?

You can enter all. Novice 4k, Inter 4k, Senior 8k. Vets races start at over 35. Your best bet is probably to start with Novice, see how that goes and take it from there.

I think from the 2nd January 2010 vets have to over 40 so only a few masters races left for the 35-39 yr old lads before I see them again!

Is this true? I had not heard this before. Recently I was involved in organising a race and did not have a 35-40 catagory for which we got an amount of flack here. So officially masters will start at 40 again from next year?

I thought it was normally over 40, but I did get an age group placing in some race earlier in the year, cannot remember which one though but it did surprise me a bit.

Had heard the same but Masters World Indoors entry form for Canada next year has an M35 category, and no mention of change on website:confused:

Apparently there was an IAAF rule change in august this year to raise the minimum age for non-stadia masters events to 40 for men and women so this would effect events such as cross-country but not indoor events. I don't know the thinking behind the difference between stadia and non-stadia events.

It seems this was done without consultation with the WMA (World Masters Athletics) so they will continue to offer events in M35 categories. See here for the WMA view of this: http://www.evaa.ch/files/iaaf_age_group_change_response_sept_09.pdf
