Pros and Cons to selling on Ebay from Ireland...

    Hi all,

Am in the research stage of starting to trade on ebay. Would like to hear from anyone who does this and if they have difficulties as they trade from Ireland. one example I have thought of is the cost of postage(obviously depends on size and weight), but because alot of customers will be in uk and the rest of the world, its so expensive to post outside Ireland.

The other difficulty would be the strength of the euro and weakness of the pound. To try and compete with traders from the uk, it will mean reducing listing price.

When listing an item, will it be more expensive to list for international listings aswell as .ie and co.uk?

Would be great to hear any other pros and cons that you ebay trading veterans have.

    Cheers

    thanks nlg...

I'll have a proper look through this later. Always thought that co.uk had more potential, population and market diversity to name but a few

I sold an expensive item on ebay, sent it via registered post - buyer claimed he was a victim of fraud, even though the name it was sent to matched his username....they found in his favour, took the money back, and then informed me that buyer protection does not extend to Ireland, hence lost out on phone (N95) and the money.

Got it back eventually after talking to someone in senior management, who was very nice, but it took some effort.

A reason not to sell from Ireland.
