    hey all

not sure if this is the right place....

Im just wondering if anyone here has experience with immigrating/gaining residency in other countries?

I've been looking into applying for Canada as ive lived/worked over there for a year. It seems pretty complicated, i've talked toa few people and everywhere i go it seems longwinded, expensive and difficult.

Im just wondering if its being made out to be more difficult than it really is..

    thanks.

Sorry mate but yes for must countries the process is longwinded, expensive and difficult.

It’s generally seen that the people who truly want to do it will go through the processes and they need to know you will meet whatever the criteria required the get the visa.

There are agencies that can help you through it but they will obviously charge you for the privilege.

I've heard about such agencies and been warned off them. I was talking to someone from immigration and they warned me off using them because in a lot of cases they take a lot of money and dont get the application or get a false/temporary one.. :s

also, they've really tightened up in the old immigration department as of the high numbers wanting in to the country right now..

Guess i picked a bad time to do this.

I immigrated to Ireland from Switzerland (went to school then college- expensive non-EU fees-, then gained citizenship); this was 20 years ago! Last yeuar, I immigrated from Ireland to the USA on a spousal visa. Lots of paperwork, but only took 6 weeks as my US husband was with me in Ireland so we could file via the embassy.

Anywhere outside the EU is going to be difficult/ complicated these days to immigrate unless you have a spouse from that country or you have a specialised set of skills they want for employment.

So I'm starting to notice, I'm completely in love with canada though and will do whatever it takes to live there.
