Where does it actually say Jimi Hendrix? The scrawling on the body isn't necessarily proof...

Off-topic: Anyone else notice how the Gibson website looks just like the Apple one? Fender isn't the only thing they're ripping off...

They announced it the other day that they're launching a line of Jimi insipired instruments. This is the first.

Yeah, well I guess the thing about the Gibson & Apple brands is that they're both aiming for the whole "Lifestyle" image. The white, clean, modern look is the "in" thing with that.

Wouldent that be a P.R.S.

This is the work of Janie Hendrix, who would sell her soul for a few buck's

I've seen old photos of Jimi playing live with a Les Paul and I think a V too.
At least a LP JH might have had some credibility, but this...

I'm pretty sure there was a Jimi flying V a few years ago. I'm not feelin' it on the Strat though...

Gibson could easily produce a white SG with three pickups and market it as the model he played on the Dick Cavett Show. It would probably sell a lot more than a Gibson Jimi Hendrix 'Stratocaster' is likely to. Personally I'm not interested in 'signature' guitars but I'm sure a lot of people would be.

Apparently Janie Hendrix (who I assume commissioned Gibson to make this guitar) only met Jimi once. It's not surprising she knows very little about him, let alone his music or choice of instruments.

T'is a strange one alright. Especially if you think back to Gibson managing to temporarily halt production of the PRS Singlecut for its 'similarities' to the Les Paul. I wonder would things have been any different had Gibson actually won that case, I'm sure Fender's legal team have wondered the same thing!

Ridiculous about the Hendrix connection. But maybe its just gibson trying to enter the strat market. Its a bit bonkers, whats next a fender les paul....

It really intangibly annoys the hell out of me that they went and did this.

“Anyone who remembers and respects Jimi’s legacy should be ashamed to buy this guitar. How can you call a guitar a Jimi Hendrix model when it didn’t even exist while Jimi was alive?
The Fender Strat was Hendrix’s guitar-of-choice, why didn’t “Authentic Hendrix LLC” collaborate with FENDER to create the Hendrix FENDER Stratocaster electric guitar package? Did Authentic Hendrix LLC run to the highest bidder? We don’t know…. but it appears Authentic Hendrix LLC and Gibson USA would rather mind-rape a legendary dead man for the $$$,$$$,$$$ rather than keeping the heritage alive.

LMAO good one. Seriously though a Gibbo strat-y thing. I saw that picture i was like wtf? Noticed the set neck straight away, but why the Kahler routing? It wasnt even invented when Hendrix was alive so how could it be on an instrument designed to give you Jimi's sound or vibe?

Fender made a few Jimi signature strats in the 90's. There was a lefty strung right (opposite to Jimi's :D) and a right-handed one with a reversed headstock.

I believe it was finished when Al Hendrix died (Jimi's Dad). Janie Hendrix (Jimi's step-sister) runs Experience Hendrix LLC now which administers Jimi's estate (albeit badly). She only met him once apparently. Seems to just want to make a quick buck.

You could buy a right handed one and turn it upsidedown and play it left handed.

But that would just look a bit silly and wouldn't work.........

Sweet Jeebus! Whats going on? I LOVE Gibsons but this is taking the p*ss. How could anyone think any of this cheap tat is a good idea. Gibson have managed to completely devalue thier own brand while defacing the memory of a truely great musician. In fact I think I might even be offended by it all.... yep I'm definitely offended.
