Glove--yes or no?

Just wondering who here wears a glove when playing, do many not? Does anyone wear it putting?

Playing yes, putting no but always used to... better 'feel' to putting without the glove.
Pain in the a*** taking them on and off though...

I take my glove off for chipping and putting.

More a case of taking it off when on the green to let hand and glove 'breathe' rather than for feel.
Get a skin split in left thumb if hit too many balls without one.

I leave mine on all the time. I used to take it off when putting but was going through a bad stage with the putter once and left the glove on to just try something different and have never changed back.

Don't wear in the summer; I use to end up with one white hand one tanned (what course were you on in Ireland? I hear you ask). Wear one (or two) in winter. I feel (a) it toughens up the hand in the summer not wearing a glove (b) better feel for the grip position.
Is it important to wear one? or has it become a fashion accessory?

One of the main reasons for needing to wear a glove is to make your left hand grip a little looser, and not too tight. It also helps those who probably don't grip tight enough. So it's a form of grip regulator.

I usually prefer not to wear one but if it starts to rain then i'll put one on.Generally speaking i'm not a huge fan of them:cool:

I carry my bag almost all of the time. If I do use a trolley then I'm too lazy to take the glove off. In fact I'm that lazy that I probably drive home with it on.

With you, I take it off after every shot. Dont wear it either when chipping or putting.

I would have said that getting your hand all tough and calloused would reduce feel...

I wear one because I can have a looser grip but still be in control of the club. An ill fitting glove is worse than no glove at all.
A leather glove is worse than no glove in the rain.
Two rain gloves beat the crap outta anything in the rain.

I used to take it off between shots and for putting but dont anymore. My gloves all fit me perfectly (like a glove? ) so I dont loose any feel and dont notice any difference in scoring etc with/out on short game.

Summer or winter always wear two with my driver and irons, one for wedges and none when putting...just find it gives me more confidence with grip

Yep and generally go through about 4/5 pairs per year, really find a big difference in some of the leading brands - just wondering if people would have a preference for a particular brand?

for my tuppence worth i have found the wilson or nike glove to be the most durable, recently tried the new titleist glove and it lasted about 4 rounds before i had to bin it..

I have a footjoy glove for the past year that i use.Granted it doesn't get that much use but it seems to be pretty hard wearing nonetheless.

I use the Footjoy weathersof, its about €12 and I get a couple of months out of it during the summer (hitting balls ~3-4 times a week)
FYI I find that giving it a quick wash helps it last a bit longer, I just wear it and run it under the tap with a bit of fairy liquid.
Have to change them mainly because the thumb starts to wear away. (I think because my grip is so loose rather than tight)

i don't think Fred Couples wears a glove. Myself i wear one, of course it's all about preference, once you get used to the feel of the glove you'll feel pretty uncomfortable without it. I usually take it off for the short game but sometimes i forget. They say you get more 'feel' for the putter without the glove, but again, a matter of preference and comfort.
