    WHat kind of budget does this computer science student have? What are you used to? Tbh i'd be thinking a windows machine would be more suited.
    Just wait for someone to suggest buying a Mac and using bootcamp to boot into windows!
    At the end of the day, it's up to you.

    I imagine they would be doing programming so or the likes and wouldn't need a particularly supreme computer to do it. Any mid-range Dell should suit them just fine.
    Or if you want them to be the coolest kid in class definitely get them a Mac...:D
