A few years ago I was involved in a collision where another road user broke the lights and hit me almost head on. I walked away alive but couldnt say the same for the bike. His insurer paid out without haste.

The bike was deemed a write off but i understood that my mechanic at the time bought the bike from the insurer.

Today i was saw a bike that "looked like my old bike". Quick glance at the reg and it was the same bike! same reg too.

I did a quick check online and the bike seems to have changed owners twice since I had it and it never mentioned a write off in the history.

Should I report this to anyone? I cant say for certain whether at the time it was determined an insurers write off or a physical write off.

I'd say it was an ecomonical write off if its back on the road. Looks like somebody bought the wreck from the insurance co. and repaired it on the cheap.

There are a lot of things that could have happened to your bike since it's been written off and only some are illegal. Unless you see it again and speak to the current owner then there is very little you can do, as you've no idea if they know it was crashed or not. As the old saying goes "Buyer beware" and if the last 2 owners didn't ask the right questions or do the correct checks there is nothing you can do, unless you talk to the current owner. Why do you think some total wrecks sell for crazy money?

    Logbook fits another bike?

I think that's was happened to my Streetrod. I should have put in a salvage bid. Thought as the frame forks and the engine from running on the side all had some damage it was a lost cause.
