    Title: Garth Marenghi's Darkplace

Cast: Matthew Holness, Richard Ayoade, Matt Berry, Alice Lowe

    Genre: Comedy, Sci-Fi

Description: Hmm, it's hard to describe this show in a short paragraph! Basically Garth Marenghi (Holness) is a horror writer, who wrote and starred in Darkplace, a supposed 80s medical drama. It's made to really seem like it was made in the 80s, with cheesy dialogue and special effects. A very funny show :)

    Title: Millennium

Cast: Lance Henriksen, Megan Gallagher, Terry O' Quinn, Kristen Cloke and Klea Scott

    Genre: Drama, Horror, Thriller

Description: Like The X Files, but want something that's a bit darker? This might well be the show for you. It only lasted 3 series and sometimes the quality was a bit mixed, but rest assured you'll see well-written characters, a good premise and unnerving stories. Lance Henriksen plays a former FBI agent who has a gift for seeing what the killer sees. I know, I know, but give it a chance and it's not CSI!

    Title: Six Feet Under

Cast: Peter Krause, Michael C Hall, Frances Conroy, Rachel Griffiths, Lauren Ambrose

    Genre: Drama, Dark Comedy

Description: Drama based around a family run undertakers in LA. This show is everything you wouldn't expect from an 'LA' drama. Every show opens with the death of an unknown character, whose body ends up in the Fisher family's Funeral Home. There are 63 episodes over 5 series. It's an endearing portrayal of a dysfunctional family dealing with the death of their father/ husband and their own individual issues. The final episode haunted me for weeks after.

Description: The series follows four young Roman Catholic Irish-American brothers in Hell's Kitchen and their involvement with organized crime. Although the show is set in the present day, it draws heavily upon Irish-American history and iconic themes. Title: Flash Forward
Cast: Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love), John Cho (Harold & Kumar, Star Trek), Sonya Walger (Lost), Jack Davenport (This Life, Coupling), Courtney B. Vance (Law & Order: Criminal Intent), Dominic Monaghan (Lord of the Rings trilogy, Lost)
    Genre: SciFi/Drama
Description: (From Wikipedia) "A mysterious event causes nearly everyone on the planet to simultaneously lose consciousness for 137 seconds, during which people see what appear to be visions of their lives approximately six months in the future—a global "flashforward". A team of Los Angeles FBI agents, led by Stanford Wedeck (Vance) and spearheaded by Mark Benford (Fiennes), begin the process of determining what happened, why, and whether it will happen again. Benford contributes a unique perspective on the investigation; in his flashforward, he saw the results of six months of investigation that he had done on the flashforward event, and he and his team use those clues to recreate the investigation.
The team investigates a number of events related to the flashforward, including "Suspect Zero", who did not lose consciousness during the event, the sinister "D. Gibbons", and a similar mass loss of consciousness in Somalia in 1991. Meanwhile, personal revelations contained within the flashforwards occupy the personal lives of the principal characters. Mark Benford sees his alcoholism relapsing, his wife sees herself with another man, and other characters grapple with similarly unexpected or surprising revelations in their flashforwards."

Title: From the Earth to the Moon

Cast: Adam Baldwin, Gary Cole, Cary Elwes, Paul McCrane, Kevin Pollak and more you'll probably recognise.

    Genre: Drama, Mini-series

Description: I think this series may be a little underrated, it's a bit of a hidden gem. It comes from HBO so you'll expect it to be of a certain standard and generally you won't be disappointed. It would have been so easy for something like this to slip into cheese or jingoism, but it doesn't. It's about the men, their country, their work ethic, friendsips...I will admit that it's not perfect which may contradict my hidden gem statement, but it's still very good viewing! Tom Hanks has a hand in this, as he did in Band of Brothers and John Adams...I would watch all three of these series again before watching the rather overrated Saving Private Ryan. Like him or loathe him he obviously knows how to make a good series.

If you have any interest in space, the moon landings, space travel then check it out.

    Title: Summer Heights High

    Cast: Chris Lilley

    Genre: Comedy

Description: Australian television mockumentary series written by and starring Chris Lilley. It is a parody of high school life epitomised by its three protagonists: effeminate and megalomaniacal "Director of Performing Arts" Mr G; self-absorbed, privileged teenager Ja'mie King; and disobedient, vulgar Tongan student Jonah Takalua, all played by Lilley. It lampoons Australian high school life and many aspects of the human condition and is filmed in a documentary style, with non-actors playing supporting characters.
