Planning on having a small (about 15 people) non religious naming ceremony for our daughter at the end of October. Hoped to have it in the bandstand of Stephens Green park and then bring guests for tea and cake/sandwiches somewhere in the city centre. But nothing like that is allowed in the park. Any suggestions for a similar venue, preferably city centre. Thanks

I'm sure a café or a bar would be able to do this for you?

Iveagh Gardens, Harcourt Street. Was at a naming ceremony there a couple of weeks ago - was a really good venue for it I think

Dont you think the end of October is a bad time to be planning anything outdoors? Its bound to be cold and probably raining.

Its bound to be cold and probably raining.

What time of year would you suggest to avoid that round here! ;)

The key to planning outdoor 'events' in this country is to go just for it, but have a backup indoor plan that you'll also enjoy. That might be trickier than it sounds, but it's pretty much essential.

Herbert park has a bandstand as well and you have the hotel beside it for afters, or even Merrion Square.

Maybe gardens of chester beatty library. Nice restaurants/cafes around there. Maybe your as well having it at home in your own garden and planting a tree or something. Is there a special significance of having it outdoors in Oct? What were you planning in the bandstand? IMMA might also be worth looking at up in the royal hospital in Kilmainham or maybe the Boathouse cafe up in Farmleigh just some alternatives you mightn't have though of. Hope you've a good day whatever is planned.Enjoy

Thanks for the replies, having it at end of October as that's the only time both (g)od parents are available. As she loves being brought to parks we just thought it would be nice to have it in one. Wandered about Herbert park on Saturday and it looked great and will look at some of the other places mentioned soon. Thanks
