Leaked doc from a sega meeting with SCEA reveals all.

Posted it here but I wont pimp the site this time :P heres the list

    SCEA Meeting Aug 5th Notes
    Aug 6 2009 – DRAFT FOR COMMENTS
    Objectives of Meeting
Dyer agreed to regular quarterly meetings with SOA
    Sony PS3
SCEA reiterated plans to sell 13 million PS3s this year
Big announcement back half of year they can’t talk about (potentially price cut of PS3 to reach hardware goals)
SCEA commented on indexing between PS3 and 360 SKUs, should be around 2:1 to garner most favorable treatment.

    Motion Controller
Spring 2010 launch (March in JP)
No bundle/pricing details yet, should come Sept 1
Plan on selling 4-5MM units WW
SCEA agreed to provide a list of Sega IP that would work well with the motion controller, Virtua Tennis was an example
Motion Controller support allows easy way to differentiate PS3 SKU
Other differentiation opportunities include PSP/PS3 interoperability –think of features that would make users want to buy both PS3 and PSP SKUs.

    Alpha Protocol
Michael Foster, product evaluator, said AP felt barely RPG. Initial level too challenging for players. “Mass Effect felt more RPG.”
Review notes sent to John Merlino a few weeks prior. After meeting Gerald mentioned AP is a high priority for his team.

    Planet 51
Sell in of PS3 SKU – SCEA noted that other movie titles on PS3 had underperformed as well (inc. Transformers) this cycle.
Dyer suggests contacting Susan at Walmart and asking what she wants in the pack to sell this SKU (movie tix etc)
Other possibilities are Hybrid movie disc (BD 25 or 50 with Game and Movie on same disc).

    Bayonetta
Collectors edition with Bayonetta Action Figure
Novo recommended launching PSN demo around Xmas based off a Jan 5th Ship date with 2-3 week run out to launch.
3-4 weeks is usually ideal demo timing with fresh content every week leading up to launch (trailers, insider video about PG heritage, video blogs).

    Vancouver 2010
HOME, Olympic destination would garner a lot of positive attention from SCEA
Should be doing same with Bayonetta, Marvel etc. Easy to launch in all territories.
    HOME merchandizing opportunities (clothes etc).

    Sonic Racing
Open to DLC to differentiate PS3 SKU – not ratchet and clank but other characters
maybe characters from Rare or Fable universes

    Yakuza
Could put Japanese games directly on PSN for download in a special Japanese Import section (pricing $9.99 to $39.99 for full game).
Might need to localize menus at least with subtitles.
SCEA interested in helping on MKTG side if they can have period of exclusivity.

    AVP
    Another great HOME candidate
    AVP avatars
    Hybrid BD disc with movie

    Iron Man 2
Great candidate for HOME space – explore Tony Stark’s lab etc.
Should have one for Marvel in general.

    PSU2
Could do bundle at GameStop with PSP 30-35K units on UMD, Go, or both.

    Valkyria 1937
Could bundle with PSP as well.

    Vanquish and Aliens: CM
Opportunity for PS3/PSP interoperability (see Eidos Batman, Army of Two, Assassin’s Creed for good examples).
If we offer that SCEA would be really interested in having us at their booth next E3.

    Thor
SCEA would like a look at the code soon.

    Sonic Anniversary
Could put out collectors edition with all old sonic games on one BD disc.
“Best of Sonic” for around $99.
SCEA would love PSN exclusive power ups/different game modes (like Castlevania’s flip it over/backwards)

    PS2 emulator for PS3 (confidential)
SCEA wants to sell all PS2 titles on PSN (GTA Vice City/Sonic/etc)
For co Marketing money show PS3 controller on TV ads – similar to EA Madden Spots, NCAA, etc…

    London Olympics
Perfect opportunity for Motion Controller integration.

    DC Digital Titles
If we provide a list of DC titles SCEA will let us know which ones they’re interested in having exclusively.
If we give them a long period of exclusivity they’ll give us more marketing support.

    PSP Titles
For SKU differentiation it’s best to offer features that are slightly different from PS3 version.
Titles that are coming up on PSP are Assassin’s Creed II, GTA China Wars, Resident Evil, Little Big Planet – all massive franchises.
SCEA has a specific PSP deck which they can send up with their hardware director for a chat

Is it not hard to see them selling PS2 games on PSN whilst the PS2 console is still such a money horse?

(it'd be fantastic though. God of War, Shadow of the Colossus etc.)

Best leak of the year. DC titles coming to PS3 (and Xbox Live) is awesome!

"Could put Japanese games directly on PSN for download in a special Japanese Import section (pricing $9.99 to $39.99 for full game). Might need to localize menus at least with subtitles." FUCK YES for PS3 and PSP please.

But they really, really need to push all that content into the PS3 and turn that into a money horse. Given it's sudden spike in sales, continuing the trend will be good.

Microsoft have last.fm and facebook integration coming (to gold members only)... what better way to top that then by sticking a load of PS2 and Dreamcast games up for sale. Particularly given Xbox's ex-chief was the top dog for Dreamcast in a past life!

Some amount of Juice in those notes, looking at the Area 51 notes - hybrid game and movie disks talking about Transformers under performing, marketing tid bits nom nom nom Juicy. Alpha Protocal not Mass Effectie enough nom nom

So many leaks coming from Sony these days!

I should mention that this is SCEA folks not SCEE - we havent had any decent PS1 classics apart from FF7. I wouldnt hold my breath for the better PS2 games.

Its not a leak by SCEA, it a leak by Sega of America. For some reason they put up this confidential meeting minutes on the press section of their website.

Guys, Please don't forget that this is a rumour. It may even have been a plant by some person not related to Sony of Sega just to rile a community. Take it with a pinch of salt.

I totally agree, but it's nice to want things. However, Sega apparently requested that the sites that have leaked the document remove the information from their website, which certainly adds credence to the rumour.

As someone with access to Sega's press FTP servers I would say they're unlikely to "plant" stuff there. I would imagine someone copied the file into the wrong folder... and what a wrong folder to drop it into.

Of course that's a posibility. However everything is speculation until either party confirms, which may never happen.

    Shenmue on PS3? Yes please.

Actually, is Shenmue 2 backwards compatable with the 360?

Is the fact only a minority of PS3s can play pS2 games not a huge stumbling block?

Surely we have to hope (wait for) some announcement regarding BC coming back first.

I'm starting to worry about your reading comprehension, the document specifically states "PS2 emulator for PS3 - confidential". Which would imply that PS2 emulation is coming back via software emulation, either on a game-by-game basis or for all PS2 games. I figure it'll be a case-by-case basis, and I've no clue if that means you'll be able to use your PS2 discs in a non-BC PS3 or only play the one's that are available on the PSN that have been configured to run on the emulator.

I hope this will be an announcement at TGS. It starts this Thursday.

However, seeing as this has only just been leaked, its altogether possible that they haven't come to any agreements yet.

To add to the hype [depending on how you look at it], a few months ago some head of Sony said that there was no chance that BC would be implemented in the PS3. NO CHANCE!!!!

Was he over stating the BC because he knew it was close to being release, trying to get some PS3 chatter going?

I don't know and part of me doesn't care. However, if it DOES work out to be true, then I will be partly happy. It would be nice to play some old classics without having to switch disks. Most of my games are PSN because I don't want to get up to swap disks.

Not too much of a lazy thing. I'm only a casual PS3 gamer so I'd rather maximise my gaming time on it :)

I know its off-topic but I really wish the new PES/FIFA were available to download. With the amount of time I spend on PES (usually) I'd save my laser a helluva lot of strain (and have much better loading times between games) if there was a downloadable iption.

Or even an option to have the game installed from the disc to the HDD (this applies to any game) would be nice.

Im fairly certain sony copyrighted some form of ps2 emulator a few weeks ago, Kotaku had an article about it.

Just out of curiosity can all models of the ps3 play the tekken dark ressurection game that was released on the PSN store?

I presumed any ex-PS2 games put onto PSN would be ported rather than the PS3 attempting to emulate the PS2.

Sony also said that vibration was a last gen feature, the PS1 would have better graphics than the special effects in Terminator 2, that motion controls were a fad and that giant enemy crabs are historically accurate.

I don't know how people think flower is relaxing. It pisses me the **** off and is far from relaxing when you are wving you controller around and sometimes it doesn't pick up the motion well enough. Still love it though.

Motion control works best on the wii when it isn't used :) Although I thought mercury revolutionworked the best of any wii game that used motion control entirely.

I'm hoping Natal is the next step for motion control because the Wii even with motion plus isn't perfect and I don't think the PS3 is either. I think the main problem is that 1:1 movement in 3D is impossible due to there being no stereoscopic effect from TV's to fool your eyes. Maybe motion control will work much better next gen when they concentrate on 3D display.

I know we're all slightly OT and I'd love to steer it in the right direction but if Sony had a better implementation of sixaxis then it'd work a lot better. My barometer of "working better" would be examples on the iPhone, which work astoundingly well... so well I'm susprised they didn't co-opt the motion controls into the PSP Go...
