car to van convertion

    hi all i have a 99 opel corsa b and i wanted to change it to a van but dont know what to in the line of tax book how to get it changed to a van on the book and also dose the car have to be nctd or doed???

    There is a good few threads on this in the 4x4 sub-forum here.

    Basically you need to remove the seat belts and blank off the bolt holes for them too. Remove the seats and install a flat floor in its place.

    The windows then need to be covered, most people do this by tinting them and then glueing on carpet over that on the inside.

    You then bring it to a tax office as far as I know and they will confirm and change its status to commercial.

    Get it weighed at an authorised test station (tax office will tell you where they are) and gte it tested.

    hey thanks slidey but dose it have to be nctd or doed? and before i convert it dose it have to be nctd? becouse theres no test on it at the moment?

    It will have to be DOE'd as it will be a commercial.

    At the moment a small van, taxed privately cannot be tested in a DOE centre and the NCT will not test them. It is a loop hole at the moment.

    If your Corsa is a 1.0l petrol it may be dearer to tax commercially then private, not sure about this though
