    Hey everyone,

My friend and I are getting an apartment in Christchurch and I have to get out to DCU for lectures at 9 every morning. Just wondering what the most effective way of doing it would be, by public transport. So far, all I can come up with is walking 10 mins to George's St and getting the 19a to DCU, though I think this could take a while early in the morning and the buses in the evening arent all too frequent, so hoping there might be a more effective way.

    Thanks in advance.

walk up church st to Broadstone. 15 mins walk and you pick up the 19a or 4/4a to DCU. the 4s are very frequent.

    123 to dame st/change for 19a
123 to cathal brugha st (just off upper o'connell st) walk back across o'con st to get 4/13/19a

123 is very frequent in the morning and they are using double deckers on it more often now.

Slightly OT but did you not look at public transport options before choosing and moving into your new apartment?

Trellheim's option of going to Broadstone is probably the best. Anything else will just have you sitting in city centre traffic. Your route should be something like this

you could try cycling, under the arch, cross the liffey, past the bridewell and on to Constitution hill, Broadstone, Phibsboro and on to DCU.

Or else the no 16 goes from St Great Georges St.

Or get the 83 from outside the Corpo and change on Botanic road for a 19a

The following buses pass by DCU (city centre stops in brackets):
4/4A (O'Connell St) via Broadstone and Phibsboro
11/11A/11B (Suffolk St, Westmoreland St, O'Connell St) via Drumcondra
13/13A (Westmoreland St, O'Connell St) via Glasnevin (13) or via Drumcondra (13A)
19A (Dame St, Westmoreland St, O'Connell St) via Broadstone and Phibsboro

The 4/A do not have a stop in Westmoreland St.

Cycle, it takes about 20 minutes. Buses are no fun in the mornings, especially around Phibsborough, which seems to have heavy traffic going both ways no matter whether it's morning or evening rush hour.
