    Hi all,
    Considering getting a BMW 3 series, around a 2006.
Was just trying to get an idea as to how much dealers are willing to drop from the original price. Would there be a rough percentage?
I would think it depends on the overall value of the car but the majority of the 3 series's im looking at have an original price of around 18-19k.

Trade in or cash? You'll get nothing with the former.

Not being smart but there are plenty of recent threads about this. It really depends on how desperate the dealer is to get rid of the car and how good you are at making a deal etc etc etc.

For example, I walked in to a main Toyota dealer who had been trying to shift a car for over a year. It was priced at 19,950. I got him down to 16 on the phone and shook hands on 13,750 after I drove it and made some comments on it. There are deals to be had.

    Good luck.

Depends how well priced the car is to begin with too. If the car is priced at the lower end of similar models elsewhere then there will most likely be less room for further discount.

I did actually search the first few pages and didnt see anything.
    I'll look deeper now..

Thanks for the info/tips by the way
    Both considered.

I would be looking at trading in a 00 Almera hatchback in pretty good nick.
    Got 90k miles on it.

you may well get a better straight sale discount than the value of the almera to be honest. Go for a straight sale and sell the almera for what you can get. You'll save on the double that way

When making an offer bear in mind that no everyone needs to sell and if it's keenly priced, they will sell it for what they ask.

Indeed, but it does no harm to stick your neck out and go with the old Del Boy mantra. I had done a lot of research and the car I was looking at was priced well. I still managed to get a large discount and I'm very happy with my purchase.
