Car tax on a Toyota Prius?

    Does anybody know if a 05/06 Prius is taxed a an electrical vehicle or a 1.5 petrol. I know under the new tax bands that it is in Cat A, but for a pre 08 model is it still cheap to tax?

    Prior to July 08 it's on petrol engine displacement (ie same as any 1.5L car). Post July 08 it's on CO2 emissions.

    Post January 08 it's emissions based. (as it falls into a lower band than it was when taxed on cc)

    04,05, 06 and 07 is taxed at €357

    I stand partially corrected. Partially because it was only if the buyer opted... and I'm sure there's at least one tool out there who didn't...
