    hello guys .

I am getting a problem with my sky.

    For your information 29.

    No satellite signal being received.

Rang sky and they said something wrong with the computer so they wouldn't no
when a engineer can come out.

They said they will ring me up and see what time the can come out .

Did this happen to anybody else.

And how long does it take on average for the engineer to come out.

I get this from time to time.

    Sky have a suggested fix..................> http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/skyhelpcentre/producthelp?nodeId=a18bb219-5076-43c0-990f-d7d97acaca2d&articleId=3571610

It does help but usually the problem (in my case) resurfaces after a few weeks. I had an engineer out to look at this and another issue but he only addressed one issue and didn't look at the 'no signal issue'. Unfortunately I wasn't there when he called to explain the problem. Sometimes the signal gets 'glitchy' and sometimes it freezes. Rebooting the box usually sorts it out. As a result of various problems, I've had a few different Sky+HD boxes (Thomson x1, Pace x2, Samsung x3) and all suffered from this from time to time. Rebooting always provided a temporary cure. I can only assume that I have a dish/LNB issue as the problem is prevalent in all boxes. A Sky panasonic box in another room also gets glitchy but never freezes. Again, rebooting sorts out the problem but in the case of the Panny box it may only last an hour or so. Maybe the Panasonic box (10 years old) has another issue as I have heard that they give problems.

I remember having a previous problem that caused recording failures on Sky+ because the cable from the LNB was pierced by a carpet gripper.

Do you think I should ring back sky tomorrow.

if both boxes are down then its more than likely that the dish has moved slightly,
unplug one box at a time just to make sure its not a box failure as sometimes a faulty box can cause a no signal on another box connected to the same lnb,

Ring an independant satellite installer, much quicker and usually much cheaper.

If no signal is appearing on the box then its more than likely the dish has either moved or perhaps the quad lnb on the dish could be faulty.

It is extremely difficult to lineup the dish by hand without a meter particulary with a sky box...best advise would be to call an independant installer as they would be cheaper than skys standard call out charge of €100

I am having the same problem with my box. Strangely though it doesn't affect all channels. For example, Sky Movies Premiere and Discovery had this message during the week on separate occassions. When I check it the following night, the channel is back?
