There is a sky kiosk in tesco in bray and the lady there has a big sign up that says sky+HD €24.99 for existing customers. I was running out after 3 kids so didn't get a chance to ask any questions but any one in the bray area looking to upgrade might be an idea to go have a look.

The 24.99 offer is only for NEW Sky customers. It is €49 + €50 for wiring.

I'd believe it when I see it.
Sky have no intention of looking after existing customers....

That will be interesting, find out what you can,
I've spoken to so many sky centres/sky kiosk's and everything is hunky dory until they find out your an existing customer, " ah no sorry new customers only"

how did you manage that - and how long were you waiting for the install?

I am looking to upgrade from regular sky to sky hd + and was expecting to pay in the region of 99 euro ( 49 + 50 ). I was going to go with a local installer as they installed the original sky box and was really happy with the clean job, but he said that it was not worth his while as he'll only get a 60 euro commission from sky for the upgrade and it would probably cost him that just to send someone out to do this work... Is this correct??

He recommended that I threaten sky with quitting and try and get a better deal...

Dunno what to do now.. I fear calling sky and threatening to quit and the call my bluff, also don't fancy calling sky and getting them to organise the install and I get a cowboy in.... I live in the Enfield area...

    Hello All

Just registered my interest in HD as I am Sky+ subscriber.

The 49 + 50 fee for existing customers is now not valid as of 8.30am this morning.

The service engineers are now demanding more so Sky have increased the one off fee for the existing installation of HD from 50 to 80 euro.

Bit cheeky that the website still says 50 euro which is now out of date.

    Hmmm...

What wiriing is involved ? I thought it would just be a matter of changing the sky box.

Seems to me that if it is that for "Existing Customers" they are gonna cancel ur existing account and re-sign you up as a new one. There has been a few around the country doing this...last one i seen was the one where existing customers can get a sky+ box for free....also isnt it €24.50 and not €24,99??

Can they really do this? I thought that SKY have your phone number linked to your account, so when you open the second account and have the same phone number it would be flagged? Although if not then I would certainly entertain doing this and put it into my wife's name..

Was it a sky source that told you this? It would be the first time in history that anyone working on behalf of sky demanded anything.

Can be done if you do not have a landline but multiroom is out of the question..and their could be other ways of doing it but im due to a possible breach of rules here I cannot say how.

    Thanks for the info Danny_B

Anyway I called them and complained, and after hopping around departments I got the original offer of 99 euro for box and install - basically said that they still have it advertised at that price on the website.

Interesting thing was all the Irish people that I talked to in Sky said it was 49 for the box and 80 for the install and tough luck. Its only when I got through to the UK customer service that the story began to change and that it was only 99.. Also no registration, they accepted payment and scheduled install for Friday week. I am pretty happy, although probably could have got more of a deal, but am happy. Just hope that the installer isn't some cowboy..

Yes it was the girl who registered me for the HD that said even though the 50 euro install fee was on the website they had to increase that morning as the installers wanted more.

I see. Well if this was done at the behest of the installers then its a first so I think its BS on her part as installers have been seeking more money for many years without any response from sky. Its more likely that they are re balancing the install payment to compensate themselves for the recent sterling weakness IE the installer collects more from the customer but there is a reduction in the sky payment.

Sky have always dictated what they will pay and this was never a matter negotiated with anyone.

I too recently registered for SKY HD and was told the installation is now 80 and not 50 as and still as advertised. I complained a few times but they said there is nothing they could do. I told them this was false advertising as their website, skymag, flyers are still advertising the 50 installation fee for existing customers. Such a load of crap they are. I think i will call and complain again. For now, they put me on a registration list and I got an email the other day indicating a waiting list of 4 - 7 weeks! Definitely not much loyalty of existing customer!
