Wheel buckle and tire sidewall exposed

    Hi guys,

Had to fix a buckle on my wheel the other day. Wheel is running without discernible wobble now but I still have one point of concern left. I've attached a picture of the tire sidewall just above the tirewall. The tire is popping up slightly and I think this is due to the buckle. Does anyone know if I should tighten the spokes on the side of the bulge or on the opposite side to the bulge in order to fix it?

    Cheers.

I don't think that is the buckle. In my own experience when the tyre is like that specifically at the valve the bead is probably not seated on the rim properly. To get it to seat properly you need to push the valve up into the tyre while putting the tyre on at that point. It can be quite tricky to do if the bead just doesn't want to sit and indeed I've had to replace the tyre on occasion (old tyre on a new rim.)

Or the washing hasn't been folded and put away. Other than that, +1 for blorg.

Second what Blorg says, just to clarify - it's easier to do by letting the pressure down in the tube a bit, and giving it a good wiggle. Nearly like you're trying to push the valve up in to the tyre.

Just to add- you are at high risk of the tyre unseating completely and the tube blowing up if you cycle it like that (again from my bitter experience :) )

You can blame my housemates for that. Was going to photoshop out that before uploading but hadn't the time. :)

Thanks for the advice on the valve. Will give it a go.
