    Hello.

The above electric window in my Wifes Scenic is not working. I can actually lift it with my hands and it feels as if its not connected to anything inside the door.
Does anyone know where would be a good place to get this fixed besides Renault.
How much would a job like this cost.

    Thanks.

    Hi Sharkman

Its a 04 would they do it for free? I'm not sure if its still under warrenty.

How much would they charge for a job like this?

Our Renault dealer in Blanch. even charged us to change the speedo to kms even after he said he would do it for free when we bought the car, so I wont hold my breath for a freebee.

    Thanks again for the advice.

isn't the speedo on them digital, surely it's just a case of pressing a few buttons?

The car probably needs a new window regulator. If Renault won't do it for free, the part is available on micksgarage.ie for 70 quid + postage.

This is assuming that you need a regulator only, not a regulator + motor. It is usually the case that the the motor is fine.

AFAIK Renault will not supply the regulator separate from the motor and charge 300+ quid for the whole lot.

Fitting would probably take an hour.

I know, thats what I said. Greedy gits.

Sharkman when you got yours fixed did they charge you to fix it?

Thanks BrianD3 I might just get the parts from micksgarage and get my mechanic to pit it on.

    Thanks lads.

Procedure for changing Scenic from Mph to Kmph

    - ensure the ignition is off, so open and close the door
    - Don't press the brake or clutch
    - press and hold the top computer-control button on the right-hand stalk
    - immediately insert the card into the slot
    - then (still with the cc button pressed) press and hold the Start button.
    - after about 3-5 second the dash will light up with the speedo flashing
    - after another 3-5 seconds the mph will change to kph but it will still flash so keep it pressed.
    - after another 3-5 second the flashing will stop, the speedo will be in kph

Try calling Joe Norris Motors in Navan 046 9021312, nice fellas and ask them if it can be done under warranty, have reg no and vin no off vehicle when calling them (or get them off registration cert). ask for Carol or John in service.

This is an ongoing problem with Renaults in general from the Modus to the Laguna. Dont know why but thay seem to suffer form this common design fault. Thanks Colm MCM for the tip. Do you know how to delete the message ''change oil soon'' that appears on my Megane. Tried various things with the on board computer but I am just guessing. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
