David McCann, Phoenix CC, knocked 3 secs off Chris Boardmans record which has stood for 16 years. 45mins 54secs for a 25' is quite incredible
With his recent form he could be on for a high placing at the Worlds.

16 bloody years, it only feels like a couple of years ago.

Yeah, superb ride. Gave Hutch a good pasting which he wouldn't be too happy about, even though he was born in Norn. Ireland also.

It's great to see irish cycling doing so well. Roche's amazing TdF, Deignant's vuelta and now McCann. Maybe it's the 80's all over again!

Must be, the economy is in the sh1ts and FF are at the wheel too. Deja vu all over again, as the saying goes :-)

    EDIT 53 kph average. Ouch

I've checked just about every website and can't see it up on any of them, you can bet on what Colin Farrell is going to call his kid but you can't bet on who'll be the world champion of cylcing.

I wouldn't go betting on him for the worlds. Great ride from him and well done on beating Boardman's time.
But when the top 10 beat 50 minutes, then conditions have played a big part too.

what record did McCann break exactly?

He is registered as an Irish rider so what sort of British record did he break?

It was the 25 mile Competition Record (open to all comers riding a CTT event).

Thats great news. I'm off to world champs on Thursday so we'll be there with our flags to give him a good cheer on the TT
