My interior roof lining was, 32 years ago originally white - currently however its now closer to yellowy brown, taking the cheap option i was hoping to respray the roof lining matt black, instead of buying a new one. Anyone ever done this - how did it turn out?

Don't worry i will cover the other interior, i'm not really a fan of black speckled look interior :)

I've had success using the halfords vinyl spray, not with a headliner, but dashparts and panels. Gave the parts a really good clean (otherwise the grease will cause the paint to sit like the surface of the moon) and then I put on very very light coats, starting off with a dusting. You probably won't need a sealer as there will be no contact with your headliner.

As a warning, the vapours off the spray are very very strong, take breaks, leave everything open (wear a mask if you have one). I had a blinding headache for about 6 hours the first time I tried it.

I did it to my 280SE. I bought water based vinyl paint, off white, from Vinny Byrnes in a can and brushed it on.It doesn't drip or run, took no preparation and doesn't smell to bad.

Two coats and good as new !
