High Mileage cars

hi,

On the lookout for a particular car, and think i found a nice on but am a bit worried about the high mileage.
Its 115 on an 03.It has full service history but what else should i check for?
being an s3 id guess its been driven pretty hard over the course..

115k on an 03 is above average but not by much.

When you say a full service history, what has been done to it? It should have had a least one timing belt done and is probably due another shortly (you should factor that into your price). Look for things like disks replaced and should also have needed some suspension work - control arms, shocks, track rod ends).

Best advice would be to get a mechanic to check it over before you buy. As you say, it's probably been driven hard so you could be buying a lot of problems.

Is it Diesal or Petrol. If its diesal I wouldnt be too worried providing it had a FSH. I used to have a 2003 A4 with 150000 miles up on it and it never gave any trouble.

Being an s3, its a 1.8T petrol..

I think either way i will need to get it checked over by a mechanic.
I guess what i really want to know, if anyone has had problems on other performance car's with high mileage? Something a mechanic may miss, or not be able to foresee..

And based on the garage reviews, i think it will be back to searaching the UK market yet again

I think you'd have more luck in the UK or NI. A much better choice of better maintained cars. You're right to give this one a miss.
