    Hi there,

We're getting married in Tuscany in June 2010, and would love to honeymoon somewhere in Italy for 3 or 4 nights. We'd like to head to the coast somewhere (we'll probably fly from Florence) and relax in a luxurious hotel preferably with a seaview.

Does anyone have any suggestions? We're not so much into very touristy beach resorts, but would love a romantic seaside town with really good restaurants.

    Would really appreciate your suggestions!!!

    Thanks!! :pac:

Congrats on the up and coming nuptials.

Myself and my husband decided to honeymoon in Rome and Sorrento after having a fantastic time the year before in Alghero, Sardinia.

I have to say Sardinia won hands down for me as a place to enjoy the restaurants, nightlife and friendly atmosphere. We had a brilliant time and even befriended a few locals.

We rented a car and explored the island too.

If you want a romantic seaside town and great seafood restaurants you can't get much better than Alghero imo.

Oh Id definitely recommend The Amalfi Coast http://www.kevingreenstein.com/suffolk/cjn297c/katia/pictures/campania-amalfi.png
I went here with my OH last year, neither of us had ever been to Italy before and it was the most romantic place I have ever been to before. Just gorgeous. Its soooo picturisque and not touristy at all. There isnt a macdonalds or an english pub or restaurant in sight. Its so peaceful and mainly people that are recently engaged, honeymooners or people celebrating anniversaries are there. We spent a week and I cant wait to go back. Almalfi itself is very small, but its so gorgeous that we couldnt help but just walk around it looking at it all. We did take a boat trip to Capri which is lovely. you could possibly stay there for a coulpe of nights too or just see it for the day and we also did pompeii and mount vesusiveus which were brilliant.

Anyone looking for something romantic i have to say Amalfi all the way

Thanks very much everyone for the suggestions.

Dublingal80, did you stay in Amalfi itself? It sounds gorgeous. Are there any nice hotels you'd recommend??

    Thanks :)

another vote for Amalfi here, easy to reach by flying into naples, or you could fly into rome and get the high speed rail down

stunning part of the world, we stayed in sorrento, well actually the outskirts in a place called Sant'Agnello, the bay of naples with the sun on your back every morning was fantastic, the place we stayed was cheap, restored convent i think http://www.portosalvosorrento.com/

loads of stuff to see and do in the area; isle of capri, amalfi coastal drive, pompeii

I vote 1000000000000000000000000000000% for Amalfi and most ESPECIALLY - Hotel Santa Caterina. You will not find a better hotel on the Amalfi coast.

It's a 5*L hotel (five star luxury) and it is amazing. And the food is just delicious. And the staff are so helpful and treat you like royalty. And the amazing beach club they have - there is no beach, you go down an elevator in through the cliff and they have put a deck with a pool built into the cliff, it's amazing. You can then jump into the sea from there if you wish, and it's so secluded and private. It's family-run as well and the family are just the nicest and sweetest people. I would honestly never consider going anywhere else other than Santa Caterina if I was going to the Amalfi coast.

Oh and Brad and Angelina stayed there during the time when Mr and Mrs Smith was being filmed and it was rumoured that they were together. Many a famous person has stayed there, even the Clintons! Tiz an absolutely fabulous place. It's also a member of the Leading Small Hotels of the World.

It would be the perfect spot for your honeymoon! Tiz expensive though but if it's for your honeymoon then go for it!

another vote for the amalfi coast here. i would recommend positano if you want to be by the sea - an amazing town that just rises up from the beach into the mountains. if you want somewhere a bit quieter then go for ravello which is up in the mountains (5km from amalfi town which is on the coast). stunning place.

Head for Elba, it's still in Tuscany and only 45 minutes from the mainland, it's full of beautifull beaches, great for swimming, snorkelling and getting a tan, water is lovley and warm... it's a paradise island..great for a honeymoon...

If you've got a car you can drive to the port of Piombino in tuscany and get the ferry over..it really is a hidden gem of an island..

I've been on two holidays in Italy, Rome, Tuscany and Venice was the first one. Had a car.

For the second one, we spent a week on the Amalfi Coast, drove down to Sicily and spent a week on the west on the Island.

Though both were great holidays, the first one was by far the best.

Tuscany is just beautiful, full of vineyards and wonderful, wonderful scenery.
Fantastic food and if you love pasta and pizza's, you're in for a treat.

Siena is a beautiful, small town.

I believe Venice to be a very romantic city, second only to Paris.
I lived on the vaparato's and stayed on the Lido.
