Another boring handicap thread

    Hello friends,

I'm fairly new to this handicap business and was wondering if someone could set me straight on something.

I played a comp a few weeks ago, the CSS was 70 and I was cut 0.3. A few days later I checked howdidido and the 0.3 had been added back on. So I had a look on Golfnet and the details were as follows...

    06/09 GOY Single S/Ford 71 71 39 -2 0 13.5 14

So the CSS had been changed from 70 to 71, seemingly after the competition was over. The red number above is the nett differential and as you can see the handicap adjustment beside it is 0 instead of 0.6.

Now I understand that I should play off my adjusted handicap but my question is how do I go about fixing this? Do I go to the handicap secretary or will I just leave it and hope it sorts itself out in time?

Any help appreciated, hope you didn't fall asleep reading this.

Golfnet might not be quite fully up to date so might not necessarily show the correct handicap. Check first at the club (presuming you can look up the computer) that your handicap is correct there. The is the only one that really matters.
Assuming it's ok there then the golfnet version will catch up once your club published to it again I presume...
If you don't feel your handicap is accurate at your club then it's time for a message to your handicap secretary but my guess is that it's correct on the club system but just out of synch online?

[edit] I've had a time this year where on the club computer I was one handicap, another on howdidido and yet another on golfnet.... the one that matters is the club one because for all kinds of reasons the online versions can be 'wrong' but assuming the competition has been closed then the club one should be current. I called the GUI about it because the difference at the time meant a full shot (like in your case) and I was looking to play in a Junior Scratch and I couldn't off 4 but could off 5 so I couldn't just err on the side of caution in this case!

    Thanks for that Licksy,

My club h/cap is the same as howdidido I'm afraid (incorrect), and all we can do on our computer is sign in and enter scores. Looks like I'll have to have a chat with the handicap secretary. Cheers again.

On our club2000 touchscreen terminal which is also linked to howdidido, there is a facility to look up your handicap too. It is possible that you may be correct on the system but different on howdidido online due to an error publishing... If it's wrong at the terminal then it's going to be wrong everywhere else :) Safest thing is to send off a message to the secretary and that will save you having to correct it yourself all the time.
