Did anyone actually receive the 500 quid that usually comes with the BTEA. ? Just wondering , as I have an extensive materials list , and am anxious to get some of the stuff.

they usually wait a few weeks before they issue the cheque's because some people tend to claim BTEA, get the cheque and then leave college.

my social office said within the first 5 weeks it should be issued.

I applied for it this time last year (mid Oct), which was fairly late to be applying. I received the €500 grant only two weeks later, around the beginning of November. Was very pleased with how quickly I got it tbh. Hopefully you'll get it in the next couple of weeks OP!!

Phooaar hold up just a second... Just could someone clear this up for me...

So with the BTEA.... You get 204 a week which automatically goes into your account on a Thursday, AND another 500 on top of that as a once off??

Glad I could help!! Hopefully you'll get it soon. I called into the social welfare office down here in Cork to ask about it and they said it won't be paid out down here until sometime next month.
