i have a problem with a sony 6 disc cd player

basically it wont play any cds, be they regular shop bought or burnt discs

the burnt discs are specifically burned as audio cd's and NOT mp3 cds as it wont play mp3's

the error it shows says "Check CD" and it simply wont play the cds

i bought a lens cleaner disc, but it did absolutely nothing

only on one occasion did it partly play a cd, but it was stuttering and it soon stopped and said "Check CD" again

im guessing its the internal lens that is at fault, would any car audio place be able to have a go at it? any recomendations for someone in the cork area?

Rather than pay to fix the CD changer may I suggest that now would be the time to ditch the 6 CD changer altogether and buy an ipod/generic mp3 player cable that plugs into the port where the CD changer does. I can't vouch for this particular one as I've never used it but you get the idea...

I came across something that 6cd changer on a 00 e-classes and it was an absolute pile of ****e.... although nothing worked electronically on those cars, but the cd changer took the piss...

... I think that playing your own burnt cd's in these devices absolutely ruins them... I think the second poster is right about going I-pod... I have the old school one cd slot in the radio console, and it plays anything... you can slap an aul' burnt one in there with a bit of marmalade or what not on the side it reads, and it'll still give it a good shot at playing it!!

the lens cleaner disc that i bought was just a blank cd, with a tiny brush on the silver side, quite shoddy, possibly the worst 5e ive ever spent. i thought cd lens cleaners would have a litle bottle of fluid that you put drops onto in a specific spot on the supplied cd and then put it into the player and let it do its job?

i have an aux port in my glovebox which should work grand with an ipod, however, i would have to press on the ipod to change a song, plus i dont own an ipod haha

i only got the car 2 days ago so i was hoping to get the cds to work
