I am hopeless when it comes to diet and i have a hectic few months ahead where i need to get things right so im just looking for general simple ideas... apologies for layout im using the mobile... firstly breakfast im looking for meals that will provide loads of energy, preferably hot meals and that take less than 10 mins to prepare... next is lunch and once again speed is important energy less important but healthy is the main aim... then dinner is next when im willing to put in a bit of time about 45 mins to an hour to prepare and there meals should not be too complicated but im willing to learn with them being fairly healthy but full of energy and with a bit of weight gain power thrown in and finally snacks... here i would like to focus on weight gaining healthy snacks that can be packaged and consumed an hour or two later with the aim of about 3 daily. would like to gain 2 stone over 6 months while being very athletic. between boxing and soccer i would be doing 5 sessions weekly

I love eggs for breakfast. A herb or mushroom omelet, or a couple of scrambled eggs can be cooked in less time than it takes your coffee to to, and really sets you up for the day. If you can't bear not to have cereal, then porridge is great. Throw on some nuts or natural yogurt to bump up the protein.

Fish (tinned or vacpac is fine) and a bag of washed salad makes a quick and easy lunch. Make your own dressing with extra virgin olive oil and some good vinegar to give it a zing and get in some good fats.

Dinner: hard to go wrong with a nice steak or piece of chicken, and lots and lots of vegetables. If you have weight to lose, then go very easy with potatoes or rice (mash some cauliflower instead) but if you just want to clean up your diet, you can afford some. Brown rice or sweet potato are both good choices for complex carbs.

It's also very easy to chuck a bunch of stuff into the oven with a little liquid and let it cook for an hour or so (no work for you). Throw in some herbs or garlic or spices and it will taste as if you slaved over a hot stove.

Nuts or seeds make good snacks, also natural yogurt or cottage cheese, or some good cheese and ryvita. I usually make lots of vegetable soup to have when I want something hot without too many calories. Fruit is best before or after workouts.

Check out the above sticky thread.

If you want to bulk up eat plenty every few hours. Never go longer than (roughly) 3 hours without eating. Get good quality protein, complex carbs and healthy fats into your diet.

I would agree with most of the advice above in Eileens post, but if you are going to take weight gainers in attempt to gain weight I would just use ocmplex carbs instead like potatoes, rice and wholemeal bread etc .. low carb diets are not necessary if you are trying to gain weight ... you didnt mention your current stats or workout routine, this would influence the responses you will get!!
