    Hi all,

I am going to collect an Xbox 360 this evening and I wanted to find out how do I check for the RROD on the console as I do not know much about the Xbox!

What should I look out for?

How do I know what model it is?

Anything else you feel I should ask/look out for it would be appreciated

    Thanks

    JJ

It's just like traffic lights. Green is good to go. Red is stop what you're doing and get it repaired.

Are you buying it new or second hand?

    second hand (1 year old)

am trading some games in exchange for it, just don't want to get stung!

Do not know too much about them......

you'll have to turn it on to be sure, you would see the red ring as soon as it powers up (instead of a green flashing cirlcing action - this is what you want to see) if it has the rrod

    Ok thanks guys,

Just last question, does it say on the console that it is a 60GB?

if so where do I look?

    Thanks again

Ask the seller to turn on the Xbox to see if it has the red rings or not.
If the Xbox is one year old then there should be two years left on the warranty should you get the RROD so you can get it repaired for free from Microsoft should you get the RROD in those two years.

Also ask the seller if they have modded their console in any way. If there's any modding done and you send your 360 back for repair then Microsoft may not repair it because AFAIK it's a breach of the warranty or something like that.

    Apart from that, happy gaming.

Also check if the warranty seal is ok and ask if the console was registered with microsoft. If yes, ask the seller to ring microsoft and unregister it.
