Christians should give considerable thought to the church before they vote on Lisbon

I was chatting to a Baptist recently who said he is adamant in voting NO on Lisbon. He said his church was pretty much of the same opinion of putting God first before the European Constitution.

There are aspects about the European Constitution that must give serious thought. The reference for God has been totally omitted. Christians fear that freedom of speech could be hampered such as street preaching and handing out gospel tracts as it could "offend" people, It could even be made a custodial offense under some "blasphemy" challenge.

I was also reading a Roman Catholic Publication "Alive" that my father brought home. I see that the UK Bishops fear that the EU could become an ‘instrument of oppression’ .

Other aspect of the EU that many Christians have awakened to is the sheer boldness of utilizing Biblical symbolism. The Berlaymont building in Brussels which was the former headquarters resembles a broken crucifix. The Current Parliament building in Strasbourg resembles the unfinished tower of Babel.

Other symbols that stand out is the Woman on the Beast "Europa" which can be seen through out EU Government buildings, currency stamps etc.

My own fear of Lisbon is that the treaty is "self amending" in that laws could be changed down the road, laws on the restriction of free speech just like our own ridiculous blasphemy law.

I also believe that the EU is setting the stage for the up and coming order as spoken of in the book of revelation and Christians should brace themselves for whats in store.

I would suggest you take this to the Politics forum or, more probably, to the Conspiracy Theories forum.

The last thing this forum needs is a Lisbon thread.
