I know I'm underweight by about a stone but that's to be expected at 6'. For us normal people anyway, not those hulking great giants who manage to hit 6'5 and weigh twice as much as me:rolleyes:

I'm 100 pounds overweight according to that. Realistically I'd say it's closer to 60-70 pounds. Still a disgusting amount.

I'm 30 pounds overweight according to that, my last physical a few months ago suggests otherwise, just need to tone up the beer belly a bit.

    BMI is 27.

So overweight by a few lbs. But it's all muscle, honest. :)

It's early on a Sunday and you are asking me to do calculatioins and stuff with the result that makes me feel bad about my 'portlyness'. Bad Snow-Monkey! Bad Snow-Monkey!!

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

I'm 6'0 and 168lbs. My BMI is around 22 now. I used to weigh 185lbs with a BMI of 25.38 which meant I was borderline overweight. Much happier now I've shed a few pounds.

I hate those things, they tell me I'm really under weight. I'm not, I look healthy. It was great to be told I could eat as much as I want but I would really rather it was muscle

I'm 6' 2" and around 193, big frame according to the site though so all is well

6'4 and 217, so 10 overweight which is about right, last year would have been 80

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 916 ✭✭✭Bloody Nipples

Fair play for losing 70lbs though.

You might not be overweight at all with a BMI of 27 ! BMI does not take in to account body composition which is why you can't read too much in to it - muscle weights more than fat so a fit , athletic person could have a BMI of 27 and be perfectly healthy ! On the other hand you could have a slightly built person with a BMI of 21, but who has a lot of abdominal fat or visceral fat, who would have a higher risk of developing heart disease. Percentage body fat and waist-to-hip ratio measurements are better indicators of the likelihood of developing heart disease going forward.

Yeah, I know all about the BMI. Not only is mine a little too high, but I also have a small frame, so I'm definitely overweight, and I know I'm carrying too much fat.

Is there any other way to develop heart disease? :p

I'm 171cm (Around 5'7 - 5'8" ish) and I weigh about 140 lbs. (63KG ish) so I'm in the "good" section or whatever. I'm only a week out from a fight though, so very low bodyfat at the moment.

Hehe in bodybuilding circles they aim to be in the obese (bmi 30+) category.

Im not sure I'm a medium or small frame. 5'7 and 153lbs

No it doesn't. It's 27.4, roughly the same as mine.

I'd say have a look on the fitness forum or start a thread over there. The general jist of it is to eat plenty, LOTS of protein and lift heavy weights. It'd take a reasonable amount of time to put on a stone and a half if you want it to be mostly muscle.

    What weight are you now?

That's light for your height alright.

At a guess, with the amount of exercise you're doing, you'd need to eat a SHED load of food. I mean....you probably can't conceive how much you'd need to eat. :) The fitness forum heads regularly prescribe lots and lots of full fat milk for weight gain. You should work out your daily calorie expenditure though. It sounds like it's very high. On days that I cycle into work I need 4000 odd calories for example. To eat that much I find I'm just eating all day.

That ain't the greatest scale to be honest. I'm 187cm tall, and 188 lbs, so my BMI is pretty much bang on 25.

That chart makes me out to be a bit of a fatty! :o
