Can anyone tell me when this is out? Should make for a pretty interesting read.

Not sure it will be that interesting TBH. I wouldn't expect any juicy stories about Henry or DJ. A lot of stuff about hard work and generating team spirit etc.

I could be proved wrong but I'll wait for a few reviews before handing over my hard earned :)

Today's extract from the Independent's serialization doesn't exactly whet the appetite for the book's release.
Normally serializations would contain some of the more exciting parts of the book but this was a very boring read. The extract in question refers to Galway's defeat of Kilkenny in 2001 but contains a plethora of repetitions and is not easy reading. This may well be down to Martin Breheny but either way it's an underwhelming start. Monday's paper contains what Cody "really thinks of Ger Loughnane" so hopefully this will be an improvement.

Presume the launch night'll be on in Langtons?
The launch venue will be jammers if the previous launch night of a GAA Book on a Monday Night are anything to go by.
I'll be buying it. The man's an absolute ledgend. I'd be intrested to see what he says about Charlie Carter. He strikes me as a hard, fair & tough man. Don't know a lot about his' background but that he's a N.S. Teacher & is involved with (managed?) James Stephens iirc.

Pity he didn't wait a bit later to put it out, like after they get beaten in the championship (if that ever happens:rolleyes:).
It smacks of opportunism putting it out now, he's obviously cashing in on the four-in-a-row. I suppose you can't blame him in a way, he might as well get it while he can.
As a Corkman I'd be interested in what he says about us, I'd say he respects us, he never bad-mouthed us during his time in charge.

    Def out Sept 28th.
To be honest, I can't see it being a good read, and I'm a Kilkenny man. He's not going to stick the knife into anyone, there'll be no scandal. Quite possibly will be more of a factual look back over his time as Kilkenny manager, rather than a "kiss & tell" style book.

But if he'd put it out last year he wold have been cashing in on the 3 in a row and if it had been next year he'd be cashing in on wither a 5 in a row or the end of KK's most successful ever period in hurling.

Also he started the book almost a year ago so wouldn't have known that they'd win 4 in a row.

I've no problem with the timing as it obviously didnt affect the preparation. Now if they had lost to Tipp .....

He certainly respects Cork, esp the work ethic of that team. I wouldn't expect him to bad mouth anyone TBH.

Agree with adrian522 and brettmirl. Brian is a steady and private person even though he has nothing to hide, except some of his management thoughts. We may even know less about him after the book!!! His love for hurling and respect for hurlers in general is total, which could be construed by some as maybe too robotic. The only hatchet I see that might be drawn is for the excessive madness, pettiness and attention-seeking of the media in general in relation to GAA in recent years.
