Does anyone know if a person who has been through the legal system, via, charge, arrest, court etc having been legally represented throughout, have any right to access to any or all of the pertinent files/ documentation etc. held either by the guards or the solicitor. Given that the case is finished with, sentencing etc and its history now. The solicitor in question is not very approachable, and never has been, so any request there may well be met with silence or a brick wall.Would the freedom of information act apply in this situation?
    Thanks

    Probably.

Write them a brief letter asking them for a copy of your file and for them to advise you of the cost involved.

Thanks for that reply, though from what I know, I'd expect a letter to the solicitors in question would be met with either indifference or a hefty fee!

    Thanks anyway again

Maybe data protection rules might apply 6.35 max fee if it does. Check their website and give them a ring if you can't figure out from the website, they're fairly helpful on the phone.
