We did it I dont know now but we bet the blues and we left 4 very kickable penalties wide!
Ben blair had a kick at the death from about 40 meters but missed it,strange as the guy was a machine all night!
anyway I really hope we can push on and turn that huge flippin corner that we have been threatening for years!
WELL DONE THE MEN FROM THE WEST!!!

Great to see us win, as much and all as we tried to lose it at the end. Johnny O'Connor gave away a very kickable penalty but thank God Blair missed it, he kicked everything brilliantly up to that point.
Fionn Carr with 2 tries, one a brilliant individual effort with 2 grubber kicks en route and he popped up well after great team rucking for the 2nd.
Keatley made a difference of the bench albeit after 28 minutes even though he missed a few his general play was good.
Hopefully we can continue the good form into next week and beat Ulster, should be a busy one in the Sportsground after tonight.

Also, thought the crowd was great in numbers and voice tonight too.

BBC2W Scrum V (tomorrow) and first part of S4C's programme Y Clwb Rygbi tonight at 6.00pm (before Scarlets vs Munster) should show some action from Connacht vs Cardiff. Also STV's ML programme tomorrow at 5.30pm will show highlights of all ML weekend games. However as you point out full coverage of Connacht's home games (barring Irish derbies) is hard to come by.

It was Mike McCarthy not JOC.
Troy Nathan was fecking class. His defense was top notch. He did a lot of ruck work as well.
    Duffy was brilliant too.

I have to stop now because my face is sore from beer.

Ashamed to say I was nothing short of shocked when I saw the result!!

Fantastic win for the boys in green, hope they can kick on from here now and put in a good solid season and climb the table to a more respectable position this year.

Apologies, it looked like the ref motioned at JOC from where I was and I totally agree on Troy. He was immense in defense with some very good tactical kicks also.

Great win and great night, we should have been out of sight of Cardiff by the end. Nikora had a dreadful start, missing those 2 easy kicks, taken off after 25 minutes or so on his first home start. Keatley missed his first attempt but was brilliant after that. Gavin Duffy didn't miss a high ball all night and kicked well out of hand most of the time. First time I've seen Troy Nathan play well, he was outstanding in defence. Every time Roberts got the ball Troy and at least one other player were lining up the hit, he didn't make a break at all and was gone after half time.
Fionn Carr got a try off each wing, how many does he have to score before the Irish management start to take notice and bring him into a training squad???
Reading the Indo today and the reporter thinks Frank Murphy had a great game - was he watching the same match? Everyone around me was cursing him all through the first half - the Cardiff try came directly from him taking too long to feed the ball out from a scrum. Several times in the first half we had a big overlap and he took the wrong option, either making a dart himself or giving it to the forwards to take it on again.
But enough carping, great win, and a good atmosphere, especially in the second half. Come on Connacht!

In the chronilogical order from now back the only Connacht home games i have missed in the last season and a bit.

    v Cardiff Blues
    v Newport/Gwent Dragons
    v Leinster
    v Glasgow

All of which Connacht won.

    lol.

Only saw beat Munster, Dax and Rovigo last year.:pac::pac::pac:

Bradley must've "targetted" this one. Only read the reports and saw the S4C highlights, but it sickens me to see a performance like this following the massacre last week. It's not good enough. Bradley's approach has seen Connacht finish dead last or second last (ahead of whatever abysmal Scot team) for years and clearly there's more in this squad than that. So why not "target" a few more matches and stop being the whipping boys of the league? I'm not shocked or even suprised by the result. It's par for the course at this stage. A few big scalps and a whole heap of whippings by mid table teams and cripplefight defeats to Dragons.
Looked good last night when we were 5th in the table. After today's results, Connacht are 9th. If we finished the season right now, I think it's as good as we could expect under Bradley.
And I fully agree that Carr should be looked at closely by the Irish setup, but it's probably best for Connacht that they don't.

Gatto: Bradley put out nearly the exact same team as he did last week. The problem is obviously in the approach. They players are not switched on away from home.
Next week will be absolutely critical. Win it and we're genuinely mid-table and it would be a huge bonus in the fight for the 3rd placed Irish team.

When I rocked in there on Friday, I was asked by one of those at the bar who should have walked up the hill what the score was.

When I said we won 18-16, he replied with "18 points? Must have been ****e with no tries." A real life facepalm moment.

A superb display all round with 2 of the best kicks in open play I've seen all season; John Muldoon's up'n'under and Sean Cronin's superbly dinked touchfinder. Who needs spare outhalves with these two on the field?

Forgot about those! Muldoon's "garryowen" was hilarious! :D

Great result, but yes it probably buys Bradley yet another year. The team look in need of coaching, there were some great individual heroics in this game, but there seemed to be little or no pattern. I know how under-resourced they are but there's been no progress under Bradley. Cardiff were dreadful.

That's what I mean though. Bradley doesn't have the talent for getting players up for things pyschologically. Even Gavin Duffy had a pretty flawless game (wasn't there, just told that). It's about the mindset of the team that takes the field more than the personel.
We cannot afford to rest players to target games as our backup is too poor to take to the field in a profeesional match. But more importantly we should see a lack of cash and talent in some cases, made up for by some bite, bollock and boot. Shipping 60-odd shouldn't ever be comtemplated or accepted within your own league. We lost to South Africa by far less when the mindset was right.
