In a rush attempt to kinda crash diet for an event next weekend I'm considering trying slimfast for the week to try to lose a few pounds (not intended as a long term plan). Has anyone ever tried this stuff? Does it actually work?

I seriously considered it before but then I checked the nutritional profile on it. Bit of a disaster. :(

It will work, BUT, you will be left feeling hungrier than you need to.

If you just want to get rid of a few inches from your tummy etc. for an event I'd say try the following:

    1) High fibre diet for the week (you'll be surprised how much flatter your tummy gets)
    2) Consider getting a "wrap" at the beauticians. They basically compress you a bit. Take about an inch off your thigh diameter as far as I know. The ladies will know better than I do.
    3) Drop your calorie intake for the week for sure, watch what you eat, but eat slow release carbohydrates like porridge for breakfast, LOTS of vegetables, that kind of thing. Take in the same number of calories you would have with slim fast. You'll lose as much weight but be less hungry
    4) Vitamin pill (just in case your lower calorie intake doesn't have all the required nutrients in it).

Yep, I used it and found it really easy.

Every diet works the first time for me though. Its trying to use it subsequently thats the problem!

Anyway, I think I lost 6-7lbs in a week or something on it which was a good result.

Definitely worth a try in an emergency!

PS. Get the banana ones as the chocolate one is a bit foul and the Vanilla one is sickly sweet.

lots of water, cut out salt (this means cutting out processed foods, most of which have a lot of salt), high fibre (but make sure you get plenty of water or it can bloat you!) and you can cut down on bloating, which while it won't be true weight loss it will make you feel lighter and get rid of a couple of inches.

i read too many stories about people leaving glasses of slimfast & it turning into "maggots" for me to ever consider touching it.

Dont use slim fast or any other meal replacement diet...they run havoc in your body...

Please do follow a healthy diet....we ALL know what we should be eating/not eating...its very simple...think stone age! No processed crap, fresh fruit and veg and some lean meat....plenty of water and no sugar! :D:D:D good luck with your bellydancing...I am sure you will look stunning and have no need to diet!
