Questions you never asked.......

Anyone have anything they've always wondered about but never asked, be it out of laziness, forgetfulness or embarrassment?

Like, what the f*ck is porridge? I'm sure I should know. It seems like a perfectly normal thing that everyone should know. But no one in my house ever ate porridge so, I've seriously no idea. Someone answer my question and ask your own!

Good one. Try it. Get yourself some oats in the supermarket (in the cereal section), soak them overnight (optional). Bang them in the saucepan. Bit of milk. Boil that sucker up for a bit. Milk to cool it down to eating temperature. Add something delicious (spoon of jam / whatever you're in to).

Not mental about the porridge myself, but it's a great way to get from breakfast to lunch on feck all calories.

Or you can buy the tube of microwave oats. 2 scoops of oats and 4 scoops of water into the microwave for 2 mins allow to stand for 1 min and bob is your mothers brother! tea spoon of honey makes it tasty!

    A bank!

Is an organisation that spends all your money on investments looses every penny then gets the goverment to give it a loan it will never pay back.

A bit like a son and his dad!

I can't think of anything in particular right now but I often these days finally put two and two together with regard to where words come from, eg. why it's called a bank holiday, and called interrailing. Lol.

Luckily, it shouldn't affect you too much here, eh?

    Wikipedia wrote:
The probable cause is a congenital malfunction in nerve signals in the trigeminal nerve nuclei. The fifth cranial nerve, called the trigeminal nerve, is apparently responsible for sneezes. Research suggests that some people have an association between this nerve and the nerve that transmits visual impulses to the brain. Overstimulation of the optic nerve triggers the trigeminal nerve, and this causes the photic sneeze reflex.

ok wikipedias not the most reliable of sources, but its answered my question :)

The Matrix is a computer program which people are tied into by their minds. That's basically it. The Matrix is the life we percieve around us.

Why are some people clumsy? They be quite intelligent generally, but always drop things, slip, fall over, burn themselves, knock things over, or bump their heads or elbows?

Why are some people lazy? Say in a family of 4 kids, raised by the same parents in the same environment there are 3 who are high achievers, very motivated and organised, study hard at school/college,get good jobs etc., why is there sometimes one who never studies, hates housework, very disorganised, late for everything etc?

Why can some people not cook?
Sometimes 2 people could follow the exact same recipe, step by step yet the food will still taste different. Some people's food always tastes crap, and some people's food mostly tastes good.

Why are some people kind hearted/sensitive,and others can be quite cold/detached? I've noticed these differences in groups of people who are friends with each other. It's funny how such different people can get along.Probably something to do with balance.

Why do humans not grow more than 2 sets of teeth,or 1 set of limbs? Seems abit of a flaw in evolution.

    Why are some people photogenic?
Average in person, beautiful in photos.
    OR
Beautiful in person, quite unattractive in photos.

Why do some people dwell on things and get stressed, whilst others can be very carefree?

Why do I have so many questions?:)

Why is there so many combination bike and baby stores?
Euro Cycles and Euro Babies and the likes of them. There's loads of them all around the place.
    WTF is the link there??

oooh ooooh ooooh I want to play!

Accents, whats that about! I know now people pick up the accents of the people around them, but how did anyone get an accent to start when. When CC discovered America they natives hardly had a boston drawl- where did it come from?

I think there is a link there alright *snigger*

On a cleaner note, that combination is nearly as bizarre as a doughnut with curry in it (yes it does exist.....my tastebuds are still recovering from the shock)

I always wonder about accents too! All languages and words in general too.

When did humans start to sing?

How do people decrypt ancient writings that haven't been used in thousands of years, like ancient egyptian symbols etc? How do they know they are interpreting them correctly, and not just essentially creating their own meaning for the symbols/words?

Aren't accents a gotten from a mix of different accents? Obviously the natives didn't have a boston drawl but natives+spainish/portugese then add in english and french = boston drawl maybe?

For Hyroglyphics it was the rosetta stone that solved it. Since the stone was in Egyptian and Classical Greek it was a matter of matching really.

    Oooh,interesting,

Where does the port tunnel go?!

Also, I would like to know how exactly some things seems like a great idea at the time, but they really actually aren't at all?!

ok, so this is one that I remembered last night walking home from the shop at 11pm wishing I had a car already:

You know the engine size in litres? What does the 1.0 L represent for example? I mean, it's not the actual physical displacement of the engine because 1 L is just a carton of milk, but is it the space inside the cylinders? What's the deal?

men have nipples because humans all start out with the same basic parts in the womb... the hormones that differentiate the genitals and so on don't start acting until the embryo is over 2 months old.

Does it have something to do with petrol?! 'Cause people always say the smaller the engine in L, the easier it is on petrol! Or something!

Two tubes, one inside the other, the biscuit one is bigger the fig one smaller, then they flatten it when it comes out. (I think)

But it's the physical displacement of the Piston within the cylinder as far as I know. The motor's lads would have a better Idea than me though.

It's the dimentions of the chamber, the bore and stroke that give us the engine size. It has nothing to do with petrol directly.

As far as I can tell from googling, the actual engine size of say 2.4 liters is the size of however many cylinders there are combined.

So you might have a 4 cylinder 2.4 liter engine. This means, If I am right, that you have 4 cylinders with .6 liter capacity each.

But I could be wrong. I just did some googling because I was interested thanks to your post:D
