    Hi guys,

Im a 21 year old female and as I've just started a new year in college I've decided to try and get properly fit and in shape. I've started running this week, mainly 1 or 2k along the road but will be adding in some HIIT cardio when I have a bit of a base of fitness to work off. I'v also begun to sort out my diet and eat healthy etc.

I want start a proper weights workout as well and would like to use free weights rather than machine weights. Can anybody recommend me some exercises that I should use in my workout? I've heard that excercises such as deadlifts, squats and benchpresses can work well for women as well as men, but I dont want to end up with bulky muscles.

Also does anybody know of any gyms around the city centre or the Shankill/Bray area that are pay-as-you-go rather than membership gyms? Preferably ones that are a bit quieter where I wont get stared at by loads of men if I try and use the free weights section.

    Thanks in advance guys!

    1) You wont end up with bulky muscles, thats a myth. You need testosterone to get bulky.

    2) Marcievicz pool has a PAYG Gym.
Also Laughlinstown Leisure centre is PAYG, although I doubt you would want to go there if you are worried about men being in the free weights.
My advice is to ignore anyone who is looking at you and get down to business.
