    I LOVE IT! :)

Nessa is a brilliant character! Looking forward to the new series, but I have no idea when it's out, unfortunately!

    "I agrees"

I have a different favourite everyday, but the more I watch it the more I love Pamela.. she's a classic.. I just love the drama with her..
Interestingly enough the 2 main characters are the least entertaining !!

You gotta love Uncle Bryn as well !!

What do you think happened on the Island?!

it's got to be something really innocent and we're just being duped..

it is hilarious though, every time Jason enters poor Bryn doesn't know what to do !!!

I just can't wait for the next series.. hope it's not disappointing but I don't think it will be..

Love this show. Bryn, Nessa and Pam are fantastic characters; I can't pick my favourite from those three.
Hopefully this new series will have more of Doris: she would probably be my favourite if she was in it more often. :D

Bryn and Nessa are very good characters. Rob Brydon fantastic. Have to say its irrational but the way the lads cashed in earlier this year knocked them down in my estimation and not exactly enamoured about a third series. I'd watch it for Brydon alone though.

    Doris is hilarious !

I love her classic line from the first episode where she's giving stacey advice and tells her not to go the whole way with Gavin but she can have a cuddle and maybe a cheeky finger :D She's such a diry old cow but the way she says it sounds like she could be saying stay in and do your knitting love !

    Tee hee hee (dirty mind!)

Yeah I love this show too, can't wait for the next series!

    Nessa's such a hilarious character ... "What's occuring!!!"

Ah, it's brilliant. Uncle Bryn is genius! Apparently, there's going to be a US version, fail...

So true, you really wouldn't miss them much if they were gone. I sometimes wonder if its actually a bit of an in joke.

Having seen the crap that was Horne & Corden I think we can safely assume Ruth Jones (Nessa) is the writing genius behind Gavin & Stacey, or at least she brings out the best in Corden when they work together.

    Ruth Jones is brilliant.
She's a very good actress aswell as being hilarious.

    Love her and Bryn.

Really like this show, easy watching. Bryn is my favourite, the next series is rumoured to be the last and it ends with a wedding!

Well what do we think so far?

Great to see Doris getting more air time in the first episode. She's brilliant.

Bryn is his usual legendary self.

Just watched the repeat of last years christmas special that was on a few weeks ago, what a fantastic show,:D

Thought Thurs night's episode was hilarious.
It was classic Gavin and Stacey stuff..
Highlight was Dawn falling over when she was pissed. Everyone was brilliant on Thursday night.

Was actually a little disappointed in the first episode, thought Doris was great, but there were too many other characters in it which took away from the simplicity of it and didn't give the others an opportunity to shine.. But I knew they would only be getting warmed up.

Can't wait for the next one !!!!

Yeah they really are the straight men (couple) for all the other characters to bounce off.

Haha. Really? Did the fact that they were "in bed" together not give you a clue? :D

It was Smithy texting Gav to say he had woken up in bed with Nessa. Gav then shows Stacey the text, who in turn texts Nessa, who wakes up to find Smithy with his phone open.....in bed next to her.

    Simples!

(although when I first saw Gav's reaction for some reason I thought it was about Michael Jackson dying -- Who knows how my mind works!)

The first episode was poor, the second was much better!

The full third season was released on DVD and Blu-ray yesterday (a bit odd as it hasn't finished airing on BBC but they obviously wanted a piece of the Christmas market).

At first I thought it was something really serious too but then it was really obvious once they revealed it.

I remember thinking that when they were heading to London without Dave that they'd end up together but forgot about it as the show went on. I suppose it was clever that they didn't let on about it throughout the show.

Season 3 is not as funny

I started off as a big fan of Gavin and Stacey but my affection for the show has decreased the more I watch it. I always get the impression that they are about 75% towards being a classic comedy but they never really deliver on the jokes that they set up. The setup is really good but the punchline rarely delivers as much as you expect it to.

And they have started to rely too much on the same jokes that they have been doing since series 1. I still watch it every week and enjoy it. But I think it is just as well they they are finishing after this season as it is running out of steam.

Finished it last night, thought minus episode 1, season 3 was great fun. Espically Bryn and the lads night out :D

I absolutely love this show. Can't believe nobody has praised James Corden's Smithy yet. I think he is one of the greatest comedy creations of all time.....kind of. Absolute hero, I love all his little gimmicky slogans and that he's such a softy (Breaking into tears as he's doing Gavins "toast" at the wedding cracked me up). Always puts me in good form when he's on screen. Nessa and Pam are amazing characters too.

Truth be told, Stacey and Gwen are head wreckers and the omelette running joke is one of the most annoying things in the series, but overall it's real uplifting humour.

To be honest, I find Smithy quite annoying at times, but thats most likely due to James Cordons overexposure of late,he was quite funny at first impression.

    Don't hold your breath! ;)

You're always gonna be lost if you start watching a series from series 3 though.

Just catching this thread now... hyperbaby, you're in for a treat. I only tuned in during the 2nd series and even if it took me a while to patch it all together, it was still must-see in my book.
What I like about the show is that, unlike a lot of other contemporary comedy, it's not a series of snarky one-liners stitched together. Smithy's robot dance and ridiculous friends rituals with Gavin, Nessa's incredible stories from her past, Bryn's discovery of the World Wide Web about a decade after everybody else, Mick's obvious fondness for Pam, Pam's lurching from crisis to crisis (tho the vegetarian gag wore a little thin)... they're all just funny quirks of believable characters.
Whoever said that Gavin & Stacey themselves are the weakest link are right: I'm calling it Will & Grace syndrome.
