My Chosen Greatest Irish Sporting Moment Is...

    Following on from the Greatest Irish Sports Person vote currently on RTE, I thought we should expand discussion on the other issues here too.

    I'm new to Ireland and have really only followed football, rugby, athletics in the past so would appreciate some posters thoughts on significiant GAA events (I'm loving the GAA!!).


    For me here are a few that I can remember or would think that should be up for an honourable mention...
    • that penalty save against Romania, and O'Leary penalty.
    • creation of GAA
    • was it Offaly who scored that late winning goal I've seen on TV?
    • Ireland vs England (Rugby) 1973
    • Ireland vs England at Croke Park (the first match)
    • BOD hat-trick vs France in Paris
    • Hamilton try vs Australia
    I love sport so would like to see as many as you think so I can search for footage on the 'net.
