    Hey Folks,

I bought some peppered pork chops for €1 each from the butcher on Parnell street yesterday. I dunno if all butchers are as cheap as that but it seemed like good value to me. Had them last night and they were extremely tastey.

It's the butcher just opposite the Parnell street entrance of the Ilac.

You wanna be careful with anything that's not pure fresh meat. Once it goes close to its sell-by date, butchers turn meat into marinated beef, peppered beef/pork, etc - to kill the off taste. :D:D:D

I was going to say the same thing, of course this is not saying that this place is up to it. My mate worked in a deli counter in a well known supermarket, and when prepacked meat was near the sell by date it was opened and marinated to mask the fact that it had turned colour from being so old, and sold in the fresh "butchers" counter.

On the topic of meat Mick Doyles butcher in the bottom floor of dun laoghaire shopping centre has some good deals on, only one I remember was 10 chicken fillets for €8, but there were other good deals.

I have no reason to suspect anything unusual with the butcher. I've been going there on and off for years. I believe it's just good value. He's big on world meats and is popular with South Africans. Haven't tried any of that yet but I did buy 2 beef sausages last week for €2 and they were excellent.
