Any insurance company I've left out...?

    Renewal time..

I've tried... Britton, Carol Nash, Travellers (through my broker), One Direct, Hibernian, a mate in Hibernian, Axa, Goggins, AA Ireland...

I'm not arsed to try the generic Tesco, Allianz, FBD etc as they just don't like cars with 4.0L engines so I'm not going to waste my time and theirs.

Anyone else with something high end that has a secret little insurance company hidden out there?!

Must have low excess (not interested in XS Direct etc) and full bonus protection (I've 8 years which I'd like to keep), plus the usual extras.. breakdown, windscreen, theft from vehicle..

Looking to better €1,112 - thanks for reading. :)

I seem to remember yourself mentioning 'first ireland' last year. Is that your current insurer. I got a very good quote from them but didnt go with them in the end.

Maybe you should ring XS Direct, you can bring that excess to €1000.

A lot of brokers don't seem to even know this!

    I have a Audi S8 4.2, and pay €1100 with comprehensive, glass,
    open driving and business use.

Maybe they need to get their advertising sorted but this €4000 excess
thing everyone thinks of seems to stop a lot of people even ringing them!

Any broker I've spoken to says their policies are very basic and everything and anything is more money - stuff that comes with most policies as standard. They're similar money to other quotes I've received anyway - if there was a big difference I'd probably give them more consideration.

I'm with First Ireland at the moment yeh - they're pretty much exactly the same as I can get with other brokers but I'd always shop around regardless.

€1k is still a fair bit. I think you should try FBD they're always reasonable for me. Nononsense.ie is a cheaper version of FBD.

Try Glennons. They are a broker and I had insurance with Eagle Star through them. Fully comprehensive with full NCB protection (write-off your car against a wall and you still have full NCB :D) and limited business use with a low excess about €500 on the 735. Every time I shopped around, Glennons were by far the cheaper for me. And yes it's annoying when you're shopping around and giving out all your details only to be told "Oh no, we don't insure anything over 2.5l"

Iirc, Cyrus had his M3 insured with the same combo - you're in pretty much the same sitation as him, insurance wise, so should suit you too...

I have been using the brokers Creane and Creane for the last few years, but mind you I call them and tell them what I want covered for (breakdown assist, open drive, no claims protection etc) and then I listen for quotes.

First Ireland are very good brokers, I have my classic policy with them.

Don't depend on what the brokers tell you about XS Direct though,
3 separate brokers told me they would only do a €4000 excess,
I wasn't even going to try them, but I relented and did anyways.

I was able to reduce down the excess to €1000 by paying extra,
yer wan couldn't believe the brokers didn't know about that!

I'm nearing the end of my second year, and any time I ask them
any questions there is no ambiguity, they are very good.
And they slashed my premium massively after my first year too!

I've dealt with a few companies and I find them the most direct.
Yes, you pay extra for some stuff, but if you read the regular insurance
company policies you'd be surprised what you are and are not entitled to!

For the price I pay I have all extras on it, and especially the business
use which can cost a fortune with other companies.

Sure give them a ring, worst case scenario you waste 15 minutes
    of your life!

Trust me, that was cheap at the time!
I only had 1 years no claims (damn commercials!),
    and some other previous "issues",
they were about the only ones to quote me.

Also, business use adds a lot on to most policies, I do consultancy
and sales, it's a hefty weighting.

FBD wouldn't quote me at the time either.

November is around the corner and I'll be ringing about 20 guys then,
I hadn't tried Glennons before so I'll add them to my list!

Think he meant an excess of 1k is a fair bit still - my excess is €250.

Gonna try Glennons now, cheers for the links.

Glennons - wanted over €2,000 for the same policy that's €1,112 with Britton/First Ireland.

Try McCarthy Insurance. based in Cork, they tend to be very reasonable (e.g. last time they quoted me a hibernian policy €300 less than Hibernian Direct, and there was no difference in the terms).

Only drive a lowly 1.8 though, maybe they have a different attitude to big engines.
