    Hello all,

A few of us are looking to organise a Swap night, we're hoping to run it in the Bettystown Court Hotel, the idea is to bring any console game - (preferably PS3), Blue Ray, DVD, CD, books etc together and swapping like for like.

We'd probably do it on a Champions league night, where we will have an area in the bar dedicated to us, have a few beers, watch the game and swap gear...

All welcome, please let me know if your interested.

Note to Mods, hope its okay posting this, any problems please let me know.

We're hoping to work the swap night on Tuesday 29th September at 7.45pm, there'll be a Champions League game so at least there'll be some entertainment.

I may be wrong here but there are a few problems with this swap night imo.

    1. It assumes people can get to Bettystown Court Hotel
    2. It assumes the people who want to swap games are over 18
    3. It assumes they go drinking
    4. It assumes they like football.

Now I'm over 18 but fall into none of the other catagories. I wouldn't mind swapping games on a lend basis, getting your game back when they are done with it, at the next meetup.

I just think the location could be better, somewhere central with good public transport routes too and from it, like Dublin city center. Also as a place to meet, somewhere neutral or somewhere were everyone shares something in common.

Everyone will be a gamer so a gaming cafe would seem like a good choice.

    Just my 2c

Yes without doubt all the points you raised are perfectly understandable, this idea was born from two lads obviously living in Bettystown who aren't happy with paying huge sums for games.

The fact that we're doing it at 7.45pm in a bar would give the impression that it's an over 18's event (not being smart there).

Drinking is not a prerequisite but a few fun beers can be enjoyable.

The reason we picked a midweek night is not to bother people on weekends who prefer "family time", the fact a match is on can sometimes help with a start point for conversation, its not about the football.

While I except Dublin would be a better location (and if I still lived there we would've choose that location) its situated a little further north, handy that we're getting discounts on beer so we thought that would go down well!

And yes if people want to swap/lend with a view to getting the game back that's cool, its our first event so the rules will be made by those attending.

Remember we set out to meet with like minded people, maybe get a bargain and swap stuff we no longer want and basically have a bit of fun.

Thanks for your post, where are you at btw?

Seems like a good idea...But I feel there should be a thread on here for trading games...eg. you post the games you do not want and then the OP posts the whole list of games up for trade and who posted the game so people can trade over the thread...

I will give you a random example:

    Gamer 1 has COD 4
    Gamer 2 has Killzone 2

Gamer 1 wants Killzone 2 so contacts Gamer 1 over the thread and if it is ok then they PM each other, if this makes any sense...Not sure though I remember a trading thread here before that didn't work out but if we did get it sorted maybe it could go to plans...

    What you all think then?

A trading thread COULD work, but you'd need to close it off to new members, i wouldn't trust sending something to a member with 3/4 posts.

Personally i always have a lot of new games to get rid off, unless a game has good online i'd trade it back in after i clear it.

Exactly, limit to someone who has 100-200 posts...Maybe post how active they are etc...Check there adverts.ie profile also and see how they are doing there

I can see where your going with the idea of swapping games with a view to getting them returned, the advantage of the swap night was to meet the individual, at least then you got something and had to trade in return.

The idea of posting games to one another isn't a bad idea but a huge element of trust comes into play as mentioned, could work if it was done right.

I'll get the ball rolling, for the swap night I'm willing to part with the following games, aslong as I get something in return:

    Ratchet & Clank
    FIFA'09
    Rainbow 6 Las Vegas 2
and if someone has something really good, I'll consider COD4 (it will be kept in reserve)

Consider Posting, again if I can get something in return:

    Killzone2
    InFamous
    GTA4
COD4 (if I still have it)

Add the games you would consider swapping or lending.
