    Hi All,

I had some redevelopment done on my site for a christmas theme, when do you think this should be applied from I dont want to go apply it too early and start to freak people out. I was driving on Saturday in the glorious sunshine and a christmas advert came on the radio I thought it was a little too early.

    Best Regards
    Tony

I listened to Harvey Norm mention the Crimbo word last week - albeit in a "start saving now" theme but still way to early. But the dilemma is: when the punters want to hear it and you getting out of the blocks early. November 1st is tolerable - too late?

I can't stand businesses that advertise for Christmas too early. I heard an add for a David Gest Christmas concert about a week ago!
I'd agree with blue4ever, 1st - 2nd week of November is prity acceptable.

Standard is post-Halloween to ramp up advertising. Personally I think anything earlier than that is definitely too early.

Thanks guys I was thinking post haloween myself just to make sure people order in enough time for christmas.

I will apply it for a few hours temporarily to see what you think of it if anyone is interested in reviewing it.

Ye, I'll have a look at it Tony..I always think that advertising starts far too early for Christmas though so, like the others, I think after Halloween is about right..

In retail, Christmas starts 1st November.

Before that and you'll piss everyone off.

I guess 1st week of November. If its an online site you could do it earlier like "avoid the Xmas rush" kind of theme.

It all depends on your product and target customer. If you are selling to retailers, they are making stock decisions now, so get it up there ! It's only for end users you should hold off, but even then certain products could be worded to be up now, it's a strange year, and people are budgetting already.

Like most of the posters I'd say November 1st. But you have to be careful you don't actually miss the boat. Someone told me last week they'd already started doing their Christmas shopping, buying one thing a week until then.

I'd suggest you duplicate some of your site with a Christmas theme I'd say put those pages up now and link from the main page to it - subtly. Then at the beginning of November go full on.

If you're emailing your customers, my advice would be to let them know about the Christmas pages and possibly offer them discounts, if possible, for buying early.

    Hi All,

I have applied this theme now to test the water with it so would really appreciate some feedback. There is a christmas specific banner in there too but it is set on random so only appears at certain times the direct link to this is http://www.gstore.ie/images/banners/21.jpg .

    the address is www.gstore.ie

    Cheers
    Tony
