Ok just got my Mk2 punto serviced at a main dealer standard service oil plugs etc which I was charged for, but if I'm right I don't think they changed the plugs even though I was charged for it! If I look at the back of the engine under the air filter casing at either side I can see the plugs with the caps on them but the caps are still covered in dust I take it if they were changed you would see where someone would have touched them, Does that sound right?

Dust on caps does not mean plugs were not changed.

get a 17mm long socket and take out a spark plug, if they are really white or black they havent been changed, they wouldnt roast or soot up in a few miles

If the bottom of the plug is black then it hasn't been changed in a while, also if they were recently changed the threads of the plug should be nice and clean.

If you want you could post a pic of the plug, but it's pretty easy to see if it's new or not.
