Detectives are questioning a man over the death of a woman found with serious head injuries.

The 30-year-old victim died in the early hours after being discovered at a house at Richardsons Meadows, Kilcohan, in Waterford city.

A man in his 30s was arrested at the property and is being held at Waterford Garda station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

What does that actually mean? If you have a file to send to the DPP doesn't it mean there might be case to answer? If thats the case why release someone without charging them? One for the Legal forum...

Basically.. the guards will prepare a report and send to the DPP. The DPP will look over it and decided whether the Guards have a case or not. If they say no, nothing happens. If they say yes, he can be re-arrested and offically charged and brought to court etc.
