i bought a new bike'specialized sirrus bike' about 6 weeks ago through the cycle to work scheme..however i am not able to get the bike into all the gears..as the chain keeps rubbing.. should this be happening with a brand new bike..i am due to take it back for an inspection after 6 weeks anyway...somebody was telling me that the chain needs to wear first when it is used and then needs to be re-adjusted ..is this correcy

The cables tend to stretch on a new bike in the first few weeks. They'll be able to tighten them up after you take the bike back for inspection.

+1 on cable stretch, and see if you're cross chaining - that can cause the chain to rub the front derailleur also

cable stretch, shop should sort it

although as an aside on my focus check list from wiggle it said pre stretch all cables and i've had no probs with gears in a few hundred km, (but off the bike at the moment with knee probs)

how you doing guys, this is a very common problem, more so with mtb from the vibrations, b check your cable tension, and adjust as you hand pedal to see what gear it slips in, turn by mms, each bike is different, do a search on you tube, how to fix a front derail, it sorted my problem and saved me 50euros if i was to get it serviced, pm if you want to know more dude
