    Hi,

I have a budget of approx 15k and am lookng for a diesel hatchback. The one I keep coming back to is a Mondeo. Should be able to get a late 07 or early 08 for approx £10,500.
    Anyone got any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

More than likely an '07 old shape; plenty of other nice motors around the 15k mark.

Plenty of the 07's are saleproof at the moment because of the dramatic drop in road tax (and VRT). E.G. 07 Octavia Diesel road tax about 620/year versus 08 model at only 156/yr.

Bargain hard enough on the car you want and you might just get a later model with the bonus of cheap tax. Best of luck with it.

Cheers, I am hopig to be able to bargain and get the new shape.
Would prefer a '08 for road tax reasons, but if I got a 07 much cheaper, would go for that

    Mondeo hatchback???

Yes, as opposed to the mondeo saloon.
See here for a review of the 00-07 model

Would you not buy a diesel focus? Apparently getting great reviews at the mo.

mondeo will lose value very quick, you are better off going for a german model imo. why a hatchback ??? for 15k you would pick up a nice sport passat or 06 audi a4 s line. a mondeo hatchback is prob not much smaller then them. we have a 525diesel bmw and passat sport diesel and the passat is every bit as nice to drive and a lot more economicial as the gf gets bout 700 miles to tank(now she does drive slow enough !!!) both are bout same performance wise too. the new shape golf is suprisingly roomy inside if ya want a smaller car.

Have you ever been inside the Mondeo? It is alot bigger than an A4 and a much better car overall than the Passat imo. Better resale value or German heritedge doesn't mean better car either.

Thanks. The first one is a good price. Hoping to get a 08 in UK for a similar price though
