i remember going to something like this few years back in LK, company closed down and sold off the stuff and it actually went for silly money, people bidding on crap laptops and paying over the odds.
ESB sell off their old vehicles here once a year and the bangers that would be lined up yet people are paying good money for absolute junk.

I imagine you might be right though, such a big auction probably attracts a lot of people

Couldn't find any laptops. The optiplex computers seem like Pentium 4s. Wouldn't touch a single core like that with a barge pole.

Nothing there of interest, they're all crappy old clients and servers, with other junk thrown in. And i can't see the prices being that great....it seems when people hear "auction" they automatically think everything is a bargain no matter what price is paid...

It's the stuff they couldnt sell off because it was too old / useless meaning it is worth their time to sell it at auction then sell it for cheap on the refurb shop.

All the computers are the ones that were on the factory floor, all blanked and no COAs. Plus all of them have at least one year's continuous operation under their bonnets. Not much there for the home user, but I wouldn't expect too many bargains.

There was nothing cherry picked (mainly 'cause there was nothing to cherry pick).

Just said I would point it out, I wont be going near it. I know someone working at the plant and they pretty much said its not even worth looking at.
