Can anyone give me an answer as to what's the deal with the width of the chorus transmission?

When I got chorus last year I thought it was because I had an old telly. I have a new Samsung lcd now and it is still the same. Tried the obvious and changed the aspect ratios but there is still parts of the transmission cut off on either side???????

it seems to be letterbox 4:3 on the NTL digital that i have. Bits of the screen are cut off.

    Same issue with me.

Remember when telly was simple? And it was just a pipe and a screen and we didn't know what SCART cables were?

    Hi lobber,

Do you currently face this issue with NTL Digital or analogue?

Anytime I go to someone's house with this problem, I always fix it, and they only then notice that they were missing half of their picture!

First of all, you have to make sure your TV is set to 16:9 or widescreen or auto aspect. Then you need to go into your settings in the NTL box too, I cant remember where they are in the menu but there is a setting in 'installation' or something that lets you choose between 4:3 and 16:9. It need to be at 16:9 to match your TV. People with this problem usually have one of them set correctly and forget about the other.

    Hope this helps!

I still can't believe they don't tell anyone about this when they install the box.

It seems every Chorus/NTL box is shipped set to non-widescreen (4:3) as standard. This is taking a 16:9 (widescreen) picture, and slicing off either side.

    - If you have a non-widescreen TV, UPC take a widescreen picture, and cut off the sides; so you're missing much of the picture.
    - If you have a widescreen TV, UPC take a widescreen picture, cut off the sides; so you're missing much of the picture, and the rest looks very pixellated as your TV stretches it back to 16:9.

Following the tip above will both show the entire picture, with a far better picture quality too, on widescreen TVs.
