Why different waiting times? What to do?

    Looking for some advice please.

I'm a single mother on JB since the end of June. I applied for OPF payment on the same day as JB, but I am still waiting on a decision on the OPF claim. I had assumed this was due to a backlog in means tested claims, as this is what I am told every time I ask in the SW about it.

My brother was on JB which ran out, he brought his forms to apply for JA to the SW on friday, and he recieved a letter today stating his payment would be in the post office on Thursday, and the calculation of his means attached.

We live in the same house, the information given to the SW would have been nearly identical, except he is under 25 so my parents income are included in his means.

I'm 27, have a child dependant and no other income and am really struggling at the moment. The SW office are no longer answering their phones it seems......how can 2 claims take such a diffent amount of time???

OPF is likely handled by a different part of the office or a different person.

I found that going in and waiting to speak to someone in current claims got their attention after I'd been waiting months and months as you have. So that's what I'd be suggesting.
