    http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/odd/6033260/kids-send-marcus-the-lamb-to-slaughter/

Basically a group of schoolkids, as part of a school education programme, reared a lamb from birth, named him Marcus, had a vote and overwhelmingly decided that he should be sent to the slaughterhouse.

Predictably a load of Helen Lovejoy's have come over all faint at the barbarity of it all and have threatened the teachers with shaked fists and words such as "evil, barbaric and inhumane".

What's the problem here? It's not as if the kids were a group of vegetarians. And how friendly could you really get with a lamb? In Pighead's experience they are shy, joyless, distant, insincere animals who bleat a lot for no apparent reason. Could see what the fuss was about if they voted to kill one of the fat lads in the class or the teacher, but a lamb? C'mon!

Did the kids not get to take some of it home for dinner?

I'd hate to think what would've happened to the sheep if they were from Wales.

Kids know the value that a good bit of mutton gets on the market these days.

They're enterprising young folk just saving up for college no doubt.

You just can't bleat that entrepreneurial spirit.

Wouldn't it be the same for piglets, with emphasis on squealing instead of bleating?

But opponents branded it heartless and cruel, with animal rights campaigners asking why Marcus could not have been used to teach the children about wool
I for one am proud that my jacket once shat in a field and ate grass. More character then ****in wool anyway.

Did they get to kill it themselves, or did someone else do it.

I have had deep and meaningful discussions with my daughter about where meat comes from, fortunately she agrees with me that no matter how cute and cuddly lambs may be, they taste too good to shed any tears over.

    Completely different. Night and day.

In Pighead's experience he has found piglets to be joyous, compassionate, intelligent, diligent, determined, forgiving creatures. Comparing the proud piglet to the lazy lamb is an exercise in ridiculousness.

Just don't buy an organic wool jacket..... You might find some of nature's organic produce in your top pocket.

Apparently the schoolchildren voted by 13-1 in favour of killing Marcus. Pighead reckons the person who voted against killing him should have been the one chosen to send him to the great big sheeps pen in the sky. Teach the independent fool a lesson. Sheep mentality rules.

I'm pretty certain that the killing vote would have been unanimous, were it a piglet on death-row. I bet the the schoolchildren had all arrived in school on that fateful day, each with a cabbage provided by their loving mothers, so certain were they that the little porker was going to get what it deserved.
